The Rivian stayed with the S Plaid off the line... It had Pilot Sport summer tires on in snowy, 25 degree weather. I'm a little surprised they didn't slide off the track. I didn't change my tires in time one fall in my rear wheel drive car, couldn't touch the gas without the rear end sliding out. Those tires are like rocks below 40. With a $130k car, you'd think you could afford snows.

Though I'm not a huge Tesla fan, I wasn't surprised at the results vs the Model S. I was totally taken aback vs the Performance Model 3. I could have sworn that Model 3 would have slowly pulled away from the R1T due to the truck's weight. WTF vs that Smart car EV?!?! That thing must weigh like a feather! o_O

Surprised to see it even with the M3P to 60 and pull from there, and on 20" AT's! I'll be trading in my M3P for the R1T and really didn't want to give up the acceleration. So nice to have for short passing lanes in the canyons, etc.

Most of these matchups are silly. Where’s the Taycan?
In their R1T "wrap" video (I think) they mention Porsche could supply only a Taycan, not a turbo S, and there was some other logistical obstacle..
The whole test could have been done in warmer weather on a prepared surface, but for comparison purposes, I think it's an illustrative real world comparison – no timing equipment (probably for insurance … when there's timing equipment, it's considered a "competition event" and normal insurance is void in the fine print.)

I do really like Kyle’s reviews… a lot of other YouTube reviewers don’t seem as genuine. I’m glad he was one of the first to get a Rivian for a week because he tells it like it is. The fact that he tests everything and his impression was that he has to have one now tells me everything I need to know.

Nice try, @OutofSpecKyle but you must have either been sleeping against the Smart car (or it was intentional) because it looked like you held off the throttle (or maybe the R1T held off the throttle because the battery was too warm).

But my money's on you were just having fun and messing with us.

What we need now is a Top Gear/Grand Tour style race. A luxury SUV vs. R1T starting on the road, then have them split. The SUV continues on-road while the R1T goes off-road to a destination.
That's a classic Top Gear story – Model X does 200 miles on pavement, R1T does 100 miles climbing up and over a mountain and down to the other side arriving in a cloud of dust just in time to see Model X arrive in FSD, park and the driver happens to be already out of the car and uses Summon to park the Tesla beside the Rivian …
