If you really want one, hard wire it. Why spend so much on a vehicle to have a coiled wire running across your dash?

As a side note, do they even work reliably these days? Last time I tried one (15+ years ago) 99/100 alerts were false positives. I would think the abundance of vehicles on the road with adaptive cruise control would also cause it to constantly alert.
Also if the cop has laser speed detection they know how fast you are going before your detector even alerts you.

Yup...for laser I just call it a ticket detector, if you're so deserving. At least in my area there's still enough Ka/K that it's worthwhile to run one.

The radar detector discussion does raise a question…does anyone know if the R1T has a windshield coating that prohibits radar detector & toll device usage? Such devices only work in a Mach E if you can mount them in the “black dotted” area near the rear view mirror mount. After much frustration I finally gave up on mine.

Honestly this probably explains why I assumed my compressor was broken. When I had to put the spare on the pressure in the spare was 4-5 psi low. Having a similar compressor from Dewalt that you just set to the set pressure and it does the job I assumed the R1T should be the same.

I will have to try and deflate my tire down to 30 and test again.
Setting 53 to get 48 is about what I'd expect. Does your Dewalt compressor use a tank?

Observationally for this system it's easily more than a 10% drop. When the tire you're filling is 40psi, the setpoint needs to be over 50 psi to allow it to put more than a pulse worth of air into the tire. If you are trying to fill something to 10 PSI the setpoint will likely have to be so high to be potentially unsafe if it doesn't act like expected.

If you are measuring pressure before your smallest restriction, you're going to have a significant pressure drop on the other side if you have significant amount of flow.
Not dangerous at all, that's how positive displacement compressors work- compressor spits out pulses of high pressure air (above rated working pressure); air flows from higher to lower pressure; impulse pressure drops based on time, distance, and flow restrictions until it reaches equilibrium at the tire. Filling a tire to max rated pressure will always involve exceeding that pressure at the compressor, especially considering gauges are typically damped (analog) or calibrated (digital) to smooth the rapid fluctuation so you're not even seeing peak pressure - it's all factored into the rating process. Using a higher setpoint to fill your tires is only unsafe if it results in a static pressure (compressor off) above the max rated tire pressure and, even then, really only if you drive on it (max pressure is determined under dynamic conditions).

Long story long, there are no safety concerns using a setpoint above max tire pressure provided you're judicious in choosing your offset and, at least the first few times, you stop periodically and check the tire pressure to make sure it's where you want it.

This is only true if you're able to measure close to the final container you're filling and have the majority of your restriction upstream of your measurement.
Not for static pressure. Once flow stops, measurements taken at any point in the system will be the same once it reaches equilibrium provided the system is small enough there's no external temperature and pressure changes across it.

I figured since there are a few new owners in here, we may want a place where you can ask your questions about the R1T directly to owners. I'm sure @timesinks, @JDMD, and soon @bowhunter and I would be happy to answer what we can! Also, it may be easier to read this thread if we stick to questions about current features vice discussion or debate about future features.
Since I am now a new owner, thought I would also place this here. If anyone who has an R1T w/20 AT's and would like to purchase another set for future use, send me an email at [email protected] to discuss. I had ordered 21 AS but to get my R1T on 3/31, I had to switch to 20 AT's. I am putting 20" Michelin AS's on mine, as I am ALL highway. If an interested party happens to be from WI, we could work something out for me to deliver. Peter

Report back what kind of range/efficiency numbers you get some standard 20" M&S tires. What size did you go with?

FYI it’s generally not a good idea to post information like your email address in plain text on a public forum. Too easy for scammers to capture it.

Instead, ask people to send you a private message.

Funny story, and relevant to any Washington State drivers, @godfodder0901 @timesinks ...

I'm opposed to the little ugly stickers WSDOT Good To Go! has for windshields, and I'm getting a Florida plate so don't have the front plate bracket to mount a front plate bar, so I got a bar and will be testing any time I take the Tacoma Narrows bridge. So far, it worked just sitting it on the dash! Next test will be rubber banded to the passenger sun visor.

I'm also getting UV tint on my windshield this week, so I'll test again after.

I just use my plate now that they don't charge extra.

Actually, it looks like it may be $0.25 more, but you don't have to buy a $12 tag.

Still new to the area, so would appreciate some clarification on this. Do you get mailed a bill instead of being billed on the good to go account?

Nope. Deducted right from your account, if you have it registered. Otherwise, yes.
