Haven't measured, but I have medium sized wrists and it is on the last notch for me. I wonder if they are thinking about offering more than one size...
Sad. That was even my complaint at the first drive event, the event wristbands they had didn't fit my wrists. Apparently they don't learn.

The most annoying thing about my R1T is, with out question ...

THAT IT'S NOT HERE YET (nevermind I haven't ordered it yet. Rivian should know better by now what I want, dang-nab it!)!

1. The cell phone proximity lock/unlock is super annoying. Was in and out of the garage 10x in 20 minutes...chirp, unlock, chirp unlock.

2. Camp Speaker won't connect to Rivian itself, but connects fine to my cell phone. Went through customer support. Dock undock routine, pair. Still doesn't work.

3. Wristband odd functionality. It will not work at all to wake up the truck, nor unlock the doors (video was helpful), but, if I wake up the truck with my cell phone, then the wristband works perfectly......will see if wristband alone unlocks in the morning....

4. Orange peel in paint and gear guard door and charge port door panel gaps. I have a bit more than I would like that is for sure. Two days ago Rivian Support telephoned me (out of the blue) and asked if there were any appearance related issues. I stated gear guard door panel gaps and charge door panel gap (all others fine). Took photos via the App and sent to them. Orange peel, not sure what they will do...I do a light paint correction and it helped, but it probably needs to be color sanded.....

In spite of these minute things, this truck is nothing short of incredible.

Not an option for me because while I'm in the garage my Bluetooth headset is how I take calls and listen to podcasts and whatnot. And btw, it's not just the garage, if I walk in the room above the garage, or the kitchen which is three walls and 20' away from the car it still unlocks and locks the car. I would have to just turn Bluetooth of permanently on my phone which is not really an option.
Turn off location/GPS and that will also stop the unlock/lock

I am completely blown away there is no button on the door to lock the car upon exit. Or a reliable passive entry. Even a 5% unlock entry fail would drive me insane. 25%...good grief. The "minor" problem the OP is having would be a nightmare for me. I'm surprised there are people here saying they are just fine and dandy old schooling it by always pulling the key out of their pocket and locking and unlocking their vehicle manually. Goes to show how dramatically different expectations are among current and future Rivian owners.

You are right the directions are very specific. However this Is the instructions I’ve tried over and over. Hopefully they will be able to address with mobile service next week. They say it’s tied in with the fact that the seats do not adjust to me after my wife uses the truck.

Are you sure you're using it right? I uploaded this video today on how it works cause it's not super obvious. Hope it helps.

Hmm... Then I'm back to where I started. I have no idea why people are suggesting faraday bags or disabling Bluetooth when there is a much better solution.

Rivian owners who don't like the vehicle unlocking when they don't want it to unlock can simply disable the auto unlock feature in the vehicle menus.
then how do you get into the truck when you want to? You basically have to choose one of two extremes, and both suck. Every vehicle for the last 15+ years has figured out how to make decent leave-in-your-pocket wireless lock/unlock work. It is pure hubris that new comers think that “disrupt” is more important than “better”.

This has been a very informative thread and I thank the OP for posting his experience—exactly why these forums can be so valuable. Luckily I haven’t trained my brain and owned a vehicle with passive entry yet (other than a button on handle with key in pocket), but I have to agree with @CommodoreAmiga , that Rivian has deigned a feature that has to be turned off to really work “properly” and it’s an old school solution. It almost feels like employee owners weren’t given the app to test/vet for the first several months but only hard keys? Problem is, how do you predictably OTA fix this?

Does the carabiner fob at least have passive detection? I know it doesn’t auto-unlock nor does the handle have a capacitive unlock, but can the truck tell when the fob is inside?

Push the button on the key fob. Or hold up the key card. Or use the bracelet.

Every vehicle for the last 15+ years has figured out how to make decent leave-in-your-pocket wireless lock/unlock work.
These systems typically use some sort of key fob that requires multiple inputs such as proximity and touch to unlock the car. This is how the Stellantis vehicles I've owned work. I walk up to the vehicle with the fob in my pocket, place my hand on the door handle, and then it immediately unlocks. It works pretty well.

Rivian really missed an opportunity by not enabling the key fob to work by proximity or some combination of proximity and touch.

I am only aware of a couple other companies that have implemented PAAK (phone-as-a-key), and they both have the same issues with the phone inadvertently unlocking the care in the garage or driveway every time you walk too close. It results in the car unlocking repeatedly, which is a huge problem if you park outside, and a slight annoyance and battery drain if you park inside. FOr these reasons, many people turn this feature off with other companies, such as Ford.

Has anybody successfully implemented PAAK yet? I am not aware of anyone. Tesla is doing ok, but some people still report being able to unlock their cars from in the house by accident.

THIS!!!

Whatever patent Ford has on this feature is a solid advantage for them. I’ve had the door keypad on my last 2 F150s and it’s going to be very difficult to give up.

The Internet can flame me for this one, but I leave my key (it’s a physical key - 2013 model) in my truck 90% of the time and unlock it with the keypad. The wristband will more or less offer the same functionality for me. I guess I’ll wear that full-time? It would be cool to have that functionality built into an Apple Watch band (or hell even work with NFC on the watch itself).
Ford has been uses door keypads since at least 1986 and the original Taurus, maybe longer than that. There should not be a patent issue, there just simply isn't anyone else that uses it. With the Mach E PAAK idiosyncrasies the keypad has been nice insurance. I use PAAK exclusivly but have needed to use the keypad on occasion. I also have my key fob hidden in the car within a faraday bag. The car cannot connect to the fob but it's there if I need it.

edit: and I completely agree that auto lock/unlock in the home garage drove me insane, so much so that I disabled that feature on the Mach E. PAAK works like a normal proximity fob for entry and there is a button on the door pillars to lock the car on exit. Everyone using PAAK needs to provide location-sensitive capability to turn the feature off when at home. The car knows its home for charging so absolutely no reason to go through the locking nonsense.

In an ideal world, Rivian has at lease a touch sensor in the dimple at the leading edge of the door handles that they can start using in a future OTA update. Then a phone app update should permit the same thing you’re doing on your Mach E: PAAK works like a proximity fob.

Never understood the reason for that dimple if it doesn’t have a touch sensor. Seems pointless.

I think polestar has done a good job with a few connectivity hiccups along the way. They also use a touch sensitive handle for locking and unlocking which after reading this, I much prefer.

I am starting to consider going back to the max pack and waiting for this stuff to be sorted out.

Yes! I have same gripe about the doors lock unlock. They NEED to add a touch sensitive part of the door to lock unlock. I don't think the hardware is there though, because they are relying on Bluetooth. You haven't even mentioned opening the frunk or tailgate. You'd think you can just walk up with remote in your pocket and open them.. nope! Pull out the remote, unlock all4 doors, then you can open it. Or double press.
