I live near that OHV. It's notorious for having mud all the time despite being in SoCal without a lot of rain. You mostly see pick ups with big MT tires and massive lifts playing around.

As you can see the off road community there is amazing and used to pulling people out, but it looks like they had two trucks hooked up because of the weight of the Rivian. Would be interesting to get some more info from the owner.

What height setting were they in?

This is from when they‘re out of the ruts and it doesn’t look like anything more than standard height clearance above the tires to me. Can owners verify?

I watched the whole video. Funny how everyone was getting stuck and having to constantly be pulled out!

Probably not the type of off-roading I'd do in my Rivian when I get it. I'd rather not get stuck that deep in mud!

Man, that RAM kept getting stuck. Didn't look like he was in 4x4 at all.
Maybe this is a bad example of the off-roading experience, but it doesn't look fun at all getting stuck and having to get pulled out all the time. I'm sure that with the bigger mud tires it's a lot of fun, but just not something I ever really cared about doing.

I'll pass on that type of muddy terrain. I've had more than enough "fun" of that type while snow plowing and getting stuck in a drift with unexpected ice under the drift!

Perspective. Yeah it sucked having all those trucks get stuck in the mud, but I also took away how that community came together to help each other out. To me that was fun as all heck I'd do that all day if I could.

Indeed, I am sitting on Zwift cranking out a 100 mile ride to wrap up the week. Trying everything I can to distract myself. So NEVER turn to me for advice on a good way to spend time!

My thoughts as well, seemed odd at first to be so low down, but in a sense would make it easier to extract due to the flat bottom and "retracted" wheels

All of my off-road adventures have been in Southern California mountain and desert areas. I have no experience with mud.

In deep soft sand maintaining speed is important and dragging your belly on the sand will only slow you down. Once stopped you may not have enough traction to get moving again. I was thinking maybe mud is the same but I have no problem admitting that could be 100% wrong.

It was the only out of the box reasoning I could come up with as to why he was in such a low clearance mode to begin with

on the topic of recovery, has anyone seen a rivian with a winch added aftermarket yet? is there any word on this being a factory offering?
