Chevy Bolt, Rivian R1T LE (delivered 6/28/22)

My wife (Jan) and lab (Zefram) and I got away for a short trip to the NC mountains. We stuffed the R1T full of camping gear (tent, screen room, camp kitchen, etc.) and headed out from our home at Emerald Isle to a Blue Ridge Parkway campground near Blowing Rock. We drove a total of 732 miles, gained 4500 feet of elevation, and drove thru a lot of heavy rain on the way there (fortunately the weather was improving when we got to camp). Averaged 2.75 m/kWh for the trip, which pleased me given the wet roads and elevation change. We charged at Electrify America stations there and back, and charged twice at a 62.5 kW ChargePoint station at Blue Ridge Energy in Boone (the local electric company in that area). The Blue Ridge Energy folks were excited to see a Rivian using their charger, and they knew about Rivian as they’ve been working to hook up a DC fast station in Blowing Rock.

Love seeing a Rivian in the Tar Heel State!! Thanks for sharing!! And I used to spend a lot of time in EI. Hope this means that getting one on NC soon won’t be an issue.

Mine can’t come soon enough lol ..

Hope you get yours soon! No issue with delivery in NC.The guy who delivered mine to EI on June 28 said they’d been bringing in a steady stream of them to NC from the Richmond service center…

Good to hear that all went well and no issues charging for you on the trip. I've only just put my name in the hat for a RIVIAN R1T after seeing a friends truck in Wrightsville Beach last month. I know I won't see my truck here in Surf City for probably a year, but it's good to know that charging (thus easing my range anxiety) isn't a problem to get to the mountains. Thanks for the trip update!

Great pics. I love Julian Price park. I have hiked the Boone fork trails a few times with my kids and there is a great series of water falls down there. I actually took my R1T to the mountains this past week as well but was around Lake Lure and Asheville.

What is your camp kitchen? Looks like a pretty nice setup.

It’s a Camp Chef “professional” oven and cooktop. Two burners on top, and a thermostatically controlled oven in a single unit…

Great to see! Looks like a lot of fun.

I am in NC and took my R1T to Asheville last weekend. Will have to head to Blowing Rock soon!
