If the hood pattern the installer used had a cutout for the emblem, they used the standard XPEL design, not the OEM design. You can see the difference in these patterns by going to:

https://www.xpel.com/paint-protecti...enger-Cars--AND--Light-Trucks/2022/Rivian/R1T

From there you can choose "OEM PPF Package" or "Standard XPEL Coverage" from the Submodel dropdown.
Understood...thanks Tim. I actually wanted it this way knowing that replacing the hood emblem might be an issue with supply shortages.

Thanks for the info Tim, it's great to get official answers!

One question if you don't mind is regarding the warranty. From what we are hearing from installers the warranty is for a period of 5 years instead of the usual 10 years from XPEL. Is this true and if so is there a particular reason for the difference?
The film warranty was made to be the same as the vehicle warranty. This was in part for simplicity, but also had an effect on the cost of the packages.

That explains the cut outs around the emblems. Definitely not a rectangle cut out like some were claiming.

Thanks for answering the questions.

With the factory option I understand several logistics come into play on both sides of this, but would Rivian be able to leave off the badges on vehicles "built to order" that have a full stealth PPF associated with said order, thus saving time and importantly money for both you and Rivian by not having to apply, remove, obtain replacement, re apply? Or does it just complicate things in an already stained backlog of orders?
For now, they cannot be left off due to complications in the plant. Anything could change in the future, but for start of production we will have to replace them.

Any chance we'll see a full wrap with the glossy option? Those of us planning to off-road the truck want to see this offered vs only the stealth for a full wrap.
We would love to! Right now the ball is in Rivian's court on this.

I only went with partial front, but Xpel used the Rivian patterns and can confirm that the hood emblem is not removed. it is a cutout that goes right to the edges of the indentation.
I can't speak to the info Rivian sent to you, but I can definitely tell you without a doubt that the templates in our system for the factory program have no cutouts for the badges.
Well, I'm still confused. lol.

So there's standard coverage and then there is OEM coverage apparently...but even in those patterns I can't see the front door pattern with the lettering.

Why full gloss vs stealth when it comes to offroading? Stealth more likely to attract dirt?? Just curious

Interesting. I'll have to bring this up to my installer and see what they say.

Best way to clear it up is to go to this link:

https://www.xpel.com/paint-protecti...enger-Cars--AND--Light-Trucks/2022/Rivian/R1T

From there choose OEM or Standard XPEL. In the pictures of the kits under each option you can see the differences in the designs the way they are published.

Probably worth pointing out though, our software allows our dealers to alter any of our patterns to accommodate the wishes of the customer. Extra edges can be wrapped, cutouts can be deleted, coverage can be altered, etc. Any changes made can have an effect on the installation time or difficulty, which will likely have a cost associated with it.

Hope this helps!

OEM has no cut outs, but requires emblems removed, then replaced over top.

Standard package doesn't require decal removal and has cut outs (below) around the badges.

The cutouts are there in the Standard XPEL Coverage patterns, but not OEM. Under standard XPEL Coverage, scroll down to parts numbers P70401BA and BB. There you can see the letter cutouts on the designs.

Some might wonder, why we would have these cutouts in the Standard XPEL Coverage patterns since most installers recommend removing the badges. The reason they are there (as they are with all of our patterns on all brands of cars) is because many customers don't want anything disturbed from the way the car came from the factory. In those cases, the only way to install the film is with the cutouts. For those that want a more seamless installation and are not worried about removing and replacing the factory badges, the installer simply deletes the cutouts in the software before cutting the parts.

Thank you for joining the discussion @Tim@XPEL
So far, all the facts were non facts and therefore misleading and giving a bad rep to both XPEL and Rivian.
It’s good to see that your company cares.

Correct, but this program is not scheduled to start until October. If your truck is manufactured before then, the only way to get it is through our independent dealer network (or competitor).
