I got an offer for my R1T I could not pass up and finalized the deal today... then quickly reserved another R1T. I do need a truck but putting profit back into another R1T takes a third off the price. I can wait. It felt weird, and even kinda dirty selling the R1T after only a few months when I waited 2 years, but it just made financial sense for me. Hopefully I will be back in the R1T club before late 2023 as stated estimate for delivery.

Nothing wrong with that. If the situation works out financially for you it would be silly not to take advantage of it.

I'm sure this is happening all over the country. 8500+ R1Ts made and a very small subset of owners on this forum, plus you're seeing a bunch show up at car dealers. People are obviously selling them.

Look at the bright side, as technology improves, maybe you'll get a "better version" when you finally get yours. I'm in a position where a long wait for an R1S doesn't affect me that much. The longer I wait, the more issues get resolved.

People don't like to say it, but you can certainly take advantage of the tax credit too.

I can't blame anyone for selling for a nice profit. I would hope the wait for the 2nd truck is shorter than the first.

Who knew you’d need to pay taxes on financial gain on vehicle sales as a private party? ?

Edit: not blaming you. I might do the same if offered. Oh wait, I’m still waiting.

and whats the compelling need to share this?
Well other than the fact that this is a public forum I wanted to express that I liked the Rivian enough to order another one, but I will be sure to ask for your permission next time. :D

Seriously, not sure what qualifies as a "compelling need" in your book but I would guess that 90% of the posts here would not exist if they had to meet your standard. In all fairness I could ask the same question about your arguably less productive response.

Good for you!

I just followed a silver R1T with 75 miles close today on BAT auctions. The Launch Edition MSRP’d for $74,075.00.

Seller got $107.5k for it plus the buyer had to cough up a $5k buyers fee. It cost the buyer a total of $112.5k.

So I'm curious to above numbers. Trying to see what folks think it's a good profit. Say you get a low option R1T at pre-march pricing, about 75k, add destination, hefty sales tax in many states (including mine) would bring it to about 80k. So 27.5k profit in best case scenario worth selling? Chime in all.

In my case profit was just over 30k all said and done.

It's $27.5 plus 7.5 for the tax credit. So $35 total. For many, this is money you don't turn down. For many others, they want the truck and that money wouldn't change anything.

I'm do think if the plan is get an R1T next year, it only makes sense if you're getting a dual motor explore trim. Otherwise the new price eats up at least 15 of that 35.

I was actually very unmotivated to sell, so I just listed on craigslist, at a price I thought was a bit high. Was listed for about 3 weeks.
