Anyone having issues using the TeslaTap Mini with their R1T? So I have a Kia EV6 and have a Rivian R1T on order and looking for an adapter for both vehicles to use with Tesla destination chargers. Purchased the Tesla MiniTap 60amp but suddenly sites are saying it won't work with Rivian since they have an oversized ground plug. Alternative is the Lectron 48 amp Tesla to J1772 Charging Adapter since Lectron confirmed it is compatible with the R1T but "our adapters are not working with Kia EV6 right now."

Anyone having a similar experience or issues using the TeslaTap Mini adapter? Hoping to have one solution for both vehicles but now I'm not sure it's possible.

I've been using mine for a week now, biggest problem is ensuring the adapter is FULLY connected to the Tesla unit. So far I've been putting it on as far as I can then waiting 30 secs or so, then plugging it into truck and pushing a little bit on it which seems to fully seat it. After that no problems, although i think i need to get some dielectric grease which should help.

Connected to a Gen2 Tesla WC.

The Rivian wall connector should be here Thursday and installed on the 6th.

I will say it's a REAL BEAR to get on and off, not something my wife will be doing, ever.

Works great on our EV6. Not sure why I wouldn't work on Rivian. I had issues with the Lectron 48.

I went by the TeslaTap HQ in CA a month ago to purchase an 80 amp regular TeslaTap adapter. While I was there we tried the mini adapter and found that one pin was a little tight. I hung out for a while why they tested a few different pins on my truck. They found that one of the pins was a little tight and was causing it to be a little hard to install the mini adapter. They had a plan to modify the offering pin in the adapter to make them easy to install. If I were you I would call the folks at TeslaTap to see where they are with the update to make it fit a little better.

Maybe that's the issue then, with larger ground plug it's a tight fit.

I haven’t had any issue with either of my 80A TT minis on the R1T. One o bought a year ago, the other the middle of June this year.

I’m surprised to hear of inconsistent “fit”. Rivian implements J1772, so does that mean someone isn’t following the standard? If Rivian was using an odd pin size, wouldn’t it affect normal J1772 plugs? But we don’t hear about that.

I’m in the market for an adapter also, will be for my R1T and an Ioniq5. That wording on their website about not fitting on RAV4s and Rivian vehicles had me pause for a bit until I could find out more info. In May I could’ve sworn I saw post about testing the 80a Tesla Tap mini with a Tesla EVSE at home. From what I remember things went pretty seemlessly so I’m now wondering did something change. Shouldn’t standardized connections be standard?

The tight fit is on the Telsa WC and the TeslaTap unit. The plug into the R1T is simple so I don't think there's anything non-standard going on.

If that were the case, then the warning would apply to all vehicles -- not specifically Rivian/Toyota.

Yeah just went to the site and see their warning. Maybe I got lucky? 79XX build VIN.
I've been getting pretty good charges from it, 22.3-23.0 miles / hr.

Conveniently had my First Mile Mobile Drive today and besides the test drive had the opportunity to try out the TeslaTap Mini on the R1T. No issues plugging it into the charging port or removing it, everything seemed to be fine with the fit.

I just checked the Tesla Tap site and found they claim to have addressed the tight fit issue. Bought one and hope to never have to use it. But know I will. :sun:
