I’ve been experimenting where to put gear for both work and pleasure. I’m finding the frunk to be quite hot, hot enough after a 45 min drive that I’ve opted to not put my laptop in there.

Makes sense given what’s under it, any similar experiences?

Don't have one yet, but given the teardown showing the cooling fan/radiator is in front of the frunk and blows into it, it would get quite hot.
Also, I think there were posts of people measuring frunk and great tunnel temp. A search may turn those up.

But that's where the groceries go. Crap ton of gear planned for the namesake tunnel. What will happen to the lord of the manor's ice cream? I'm spending 80k+ AND I can't go fetch Ben & Jerry's on demand? She will be displeased.

yep. We took a road trip down to california where temps were up around 110 for part of it. I had put some snacks and our laptops in the Frunk. Wife went to get some of the snacks and immediately moved the laptops into the cab because the frunk was an oven. I now have a big spot where milk duds melted on the "carpet" in there.

Yeah welcome to truck life. If you want food to stay cool it goes in the cab with you. At least with the Rivian you can opt for the gear tunnel and even leave the pass through open to get a little air in there.

But if you are used to SUVs where your precious cargo is always being cooled by your interior AC, the R1S is the one you want.

Agreed. I would expect the frunk to be at least as hot as the covered bed of my Avalanche, which gets quite hot. And the frunk is surrounded by radiator and motor heat.....

I use the frunk several times a week and, while warm, have not found it so hot I'm concerned about anything being in there, and I often have groceries in there for ~45 minutes when I stop at stores close to work. It's the best place for groceries and especially take out (to keep it from smelling up the cabin). I keep two insulated bags up there for transporting hot/cold items.

We have found it to be hot, and usually just put clothes in there when traveling. The gear tunnel gets some cabin air, and stays pretty cool, so we put temperature sensitive things in there.

The frunk seems fine for trips from the grocery store. I do like to put takeout food in there, it stays warmer, and keeps smells out of the cabin.

Same. I use the frunk daily. Great for groceries. No worries storing my laptop on the way to/from work, either.
