Stupid question of the day. If that does not matter, then why is the charger blaring RED?
It is charging just fine and will even show via Bluetooth the info on charging. It is an initializing issue for the WIFI connection. I have charged the last 2 nights without issues and no red lights. If I start the WIFI connect process, I feel it would go red again.

I just noticed that they jacked the price of the unit from $500 to $800. Maybe it's always been $800 in the shop and was only $500 with truck purchase. Just like a B.O.A.T. - guess I'll have to "Break Out Another Thousand" to put a 2nd unit at my place on Bear Lake. Sigh...

It was $500 pre-March 1 price hike, then it was $750. Friday with the new product dump it jumped to $800.

For the sake of asking, has anyone reached out to Rivian and asked why they have a 60 amp breaker on a 48 amp Continuous Load circuit? Just speculating that they may have had issues about variances of 50 amp breaker not being able to carry the 48 continuous or under start up. I have had issues before with the same breaker rating not being able to carry a motor that it has been running on for 5 years with no issues.

Code requires a 60A breaker for a 48A EVSE. That isn't Rivian's choice.

NEC code limits continuous load to 80% of the circuit capacity.
40A on a 50A circuit.
48A on a 60A circuit.

Tesla's HPWC has the same restriction, as does every other 48A capable EVSE.

If you were running a 48A motor continuously for 5 years on a 50A circuit, you were violating electrical code. (And depending on the ambient temperature around that install, you were right up on the edge of safety)

The Vermont cabin install, had to run 30-40 ft underground. Now I just need my R1S.

Wow, that is nice. All you need is a 3d printed cowl of the Rivian logo to put over the lightbulb :)

Is that a photo sensor to control when the lightbulb is on?
If so, why is the lightbulb on?
Looks like motion detector rather than ambient light sensor. OP is in front of it taking a picture, so recent motion is likely.

Yup, I think you nailed it there. I think they make smart light bulbs with motion sensors in them now you could use.

No, 40 amp continuous load range when pumping. Start up was the issue. Bought new breaker and had the problem. Went back for another and had same issue. Megged motor and had no issues but still sent motor off to electrical company and spec fine. Got it back and installed, breaker trip. (this was almost week of life in a hotel on job site) Went home overnight and bought a another breaker at local supply house and it has been working ever since. ( Georgia power line man suggested buy from a different supply house.) I wish I had a better answer but only thing I can imagine is the lot of breakers form 1st supply house were made form chineseium and didn't pass muster.

Yea 40amp continuous would be ok even with 48 start up on 50 amp breaker, but not for EV chargers. The point made above is that the EV chargers have special guidance in the NEC because it is expect that they will be at max amps for continuous and because of that you can't exceed the 80% rule. Further issue is that when you get to 48 amps using the 80% rule... which requires a 60 amp breaker, you now have issues getting wired correctly to the unit because of the balance of temperature restrictions on romex, the max gauge wire size on most chargers (6 gauge), and conduit impacts on the temperature restrictions.

Cool! I went and read the whole thread. Hopefully the price will come down on the chargers in the future and I would be up for putting inside/outside or even seeing if I could put one on my sidewalk for public use and to offset some cost with the load sharing
