Large pack - Enough range to complete the White Rim Road?

This has already been attempted and according to the R1T owner who did two out and backs on the White Rim, he's not confident it's possible unless you ran without HVAC and charged to 100% at the closest level 2 charger. He got 1.7-1.9 mi/kWh on the trail.

I know you already corrected yourself, but I'm pretty confused by this owner's conclusions. 1.7-1.9 kWh is terrific efficiency for off-roading and should land you well over 200 miles of effective off-road range, more than enough for this trip.

For comparison, with tires at 30 psi, we had about four trucks in the 1.2-1.5 range on the WABDR.

It's enough if you can find a place close to the trail to charge to 100%. Unfortunately, there aren't many chargers near the trail. The fact that your efficiency was so much lower on the WABDR points to the risk you'd take going on the trail. For example, if conditions were different on the White Rim and you ended up with the efficiency you saw on the WABDR, you might not be able to complete it.

Here are some stats from a 3-day White Rim round-trip from the Under Canvas charger and back on the large pack.
Started with 100% and ended with about 33%. A wonderful trip and impressive truck despite the trails being in a more challenging condition due to recent heavy rains and washouts.

Postscripts:
The trail is certainly tougher due to washouts in 2021 and further rain in 2022 so if you're researching the trail (older YouTube vids in particular) keep that in mind.
Ran the trail at 32 psi, Rivian recommends 31 psi off-road on the 20" wheels. Probably could have gone to 28 psi for more comfort since range wasn't an issue.

Would stock 21s be able to run it? I've been to Moab once years ago in a full overland vehicle and did some UTBDR sections. My memory from that is that the 21s should be fine for most of the BDR... does that apply to White Rim too?

They should be fine, just like any other street oriented tires on a pickup. Be aware of tire placement and have 'mechanical sympathy' as you drive.

I did Hells Revenge on 22s in Sept 2022 and, while many will want to skewer me, I made it. It actually performed amazing overall, even with those tires. I have also done Shafer and part of the White Rim three times in 2022 and it is rare that you get challenging tire-damaging scenarios, except for wash outs and just a few sections of sharper rock.

Great summary and thanks for sharing. Heading to White Rim in March '23 on a permit to make the entire trek. 2 nights overnight. Most will be on MBs so the load should be fairly light throughout the day. I have driven White Rim many times in a Jeep, but never been worried about not making it due to "fuel." Helpful to see your stats. The biggest challenge is heading out with 100% charge.

Moab is painfully devoid of great chargers. On my last trip a few months ago, the two higher speed chargers at the electric company were both down. Those at the Element are crap and didn't connect after trying four separate chargers. Plus they are 4x the cost of anything I have experienced anywhere to-date. The UnderStars chargers are 11 kwh so they take some time too... Green River is far enough away that even the super chargers don't let you start near 100%.

Big Q: did you run any of the charging ports, etc.? In March, I think I will use heaters more than AC. I am wondering how much of that drain was tied to other usage of the electricity beyond just driving.

That's exciting that you get to go do the trail again! I think you'll be fine; even if you need a little heat. I suppose you could have some warmer clothes to drive with in the cooler hours and try to use the heated seats first before cabin heat.

In addition to a decent amount of A/C use we did use the 110V outlets a few times to top off a battery bank. Though I did also have a solar panel connected to the battery bank that added some power back to offset the fridge and induction cooktop draw.

Ultimately, if we had over 30% leftover I have to imagine you'll be fine even with using a little heat.

How / where did you charge after completing White Rim Trail? Back to Under Canvas, at Green River? Grand Junction is likely too far away.

We did go back to Under Canvas for the night to charge (also for the showers, lol.) I think we ended the trail with about 100 miles of range left; enough that we drove through Arches and Moab right after finishing the White Rim before charging at Canvas.
