Sawzall should be a SEMA sponsor!I wonder how bad the tires rub in anything other than the highest suspension setting ?
also how many sawzall blades and pallets of bondo it took to get it SEMA ready - “we only got two weeks! If we don’t make it to SEMA we lose da shop!”
Good eye! I reached out to ORR, and he confirmed that they're working on something but it's under embargo until SEMA, so more info will be available next week... I'll share what I learn when possible!Interesting, unless an intern did the mockup & scraped some rack images from other places, a close-up view of the full-size image shows the logo for Overland Ruf Rax; I like the builds he’s been a part of (even built a pull-out solar panel mounted under his roof rack that slides out when parked to soak up some watts).
If you zoom into the photo mock-up they labeled them water cans, but they should have used the blue lifesaver jerrycan type model in the mock-up (for those who haven’t used it it’s a jerrycan that filters the water using pressure as you pour water out, popular for Overlanding). What’s in the jerry cans? Gatorade?
Clutch! Between the uncertain future of additional battery capacity on the R1S vs. Max Pack on the R1T, if the aftermarket heats up for Overlanding kit for the R1T that may make me change my reservation to an R1T & drop the R1S.Good eye! I just prefer the handling & shorter wheelbase of the R1S & want to see what they show off for the SUV at SEMA.
But if Overland Ruff Rax makes a solid bed rack & roof rack for the R1T (especially if functionally it protects that glass roof, mounts in the established mount points, no drill, & doesn’t kill range), then it might make the change to the R1T nearly painless. His bed racks are the best, would love to see if they integrate into the outlets / 12V plugs for rack rock lights, accessories, etc.
A R1T outfitted like this could be an awesome Raptor/Wrangler killer with awesome range if it’s outfitted with a max pack.
I wonder what the range hit will be for these steel or aluminum (hoping for aluminum) bumpers.
Also, they better put a winch on this thing, perhaps wired to that frunk 12v or directly to the 12v batts?
Can’t wait to see. Glad they got with Overland Ruff Rax, his YT deserves more views, seems like an great guy just wanting to make good kit.
Do ORR racks normally need drilling? I have a similar style rack on my Honda Element that needed 4 rivnuts for installation. Not familiar with other brands, but seems like the additional support is necessary. Obviously, I'm less inclined to drill the roof of a RivianClutch! I would be SHOCKED if they drilled the roof. Will definitely be getting more details soon.Do ORR racks normally need drilling?
