Max Pack delayed to 2024 according to configurator / email ?

This now shows up in the configurator and I have a Jan-Dec 2024 delivery window.

Also got this email from Rivian a bit ago. I specifically calls out the Dual Motor + Max Pack as being available Summer 2023.

I think all the Max Pack preorders deserve an explanation from Rivian at this point. If it isn't going to be the new 2nd gen 800V architecture with Enduro motors I'm not sure I'm going to wait that long to get one.

I'd be shocked if it's anything but, in particular the 800v bit given the huge battery. Charging 180kwh on 400v could be painful. In fact, I suspect they are related, and the delay is owing to expected completion of the dual motor/Enduro development (all dual motor also now 2024). The in house motors are more compact, providing more room for batteries.

Agreed on the explanation.

But from a business/manufacturing standpoint I don't think it makes sense to build max pack trucks until 2024 anyway. That is if they make them at all.

I suspect Ford will be the first to get a true EV work truck out there. A Single Cab lightning would be a big seller if they can do it and it would have a real bed size for work.

What kind of work needs 400mi of range?? Seems like that's what the 240ish mi Lightning Pro is for.

Good question. That's juice for towing a trailer. Because the 4.5' bed is too small, a trailer would be a requirement with the Rivian.

Think the comment still stands.......Ford is only one to even mention the idea of building a work truck (i.e. cheap and no frills, aimed at contractors/businesses).
