Yeah I been hoping to limp by with my 1998, 250k mi beat up work truck Tacoma for another year.. now likely 2 years. Going to be real tough. Still want to hold out for Max Pack since I'll be towing a lot, but this is really testing me.. of course that's what Rivian what's, more of us to cancel or switch to better margin products. Sucks but I'm still waiting for now.
Just bought a 2019 Ford F150 with max towing package to hold me over....

Yeah if used vehicle prices hold the way they have been, you'll likely be able to sell that for little loss in another 2 years. Not a bad idea. Otoh prices are in a bit of a bubble and more likely to drop in the next year or so. Who knows.

There's basically zero chance of seeing LFP for the Max Pack because the energy density isn't close enough to the current NCM chemistry. That's why they only announced LFP for the Standard pack where they have plenty of room and the weight won't matter as much.
Generally yr right, but it depends on the underlying engineering: BYD in China for example is doing some cool moves with their lifepo blade batteries. And presumably max with less weight of two motors could extend range with new battery setup. But if we take this guy Tony at his word we should know more in a few weeks.

. . . the dropping of the green interior on the compass yellow which was my favorite combination I'm a bit bummed, combine that with the disappearance of the kitchen / tent options, even on the Max Packs, my enthusiasm for these vehicles is dropping.
I'm with you on waning enthusiasm for Rivian and the Max Pack. While we may know more about the Max "within weeks", even if that happens, I do not expect good news. It would be foolish to throw in the towel if you are locked in at the pre-March pricing, but I think it's prudent to anticipate that there is a decent chance that Rivian will decide to offer the Max paired only with the dual-motor.

That’s exactly my thoughts. I think like the explore package the quad motor max pack will not exist with the current motors. Pre march reservation holders will either need to switch to the large pack or dual motor max. I switched to the large pack but if they offer the dual motor max pack for the pre march price I might switch back.

I don't anticipate that Rivian will hold pre-March pricing for a dual-motor Max. There was a posting on one of the threads on this forum that featured a screen shot of customer dialog with CS on that topic. In the exchange, the rep stated that changing to the dual-motor plus Max "will subject you to the price increases."

The exchange also appeared to indicate that there will be both a quad and dual-motor Max. I'm skeptical however that this will ultimately be the case and think the odds are that Rivian will kill off the quad Max. I would expect that pre-March reservation holders would be able to change to the Longer Range R1T or R1S at the old pricing if that were to happen. That's not a given however.

Honestly If I were a max pack holder I would either switch or go with something else temporarily at this point. Likely will be 2+ years before it materializes?

Well one would think that if anyone from Rivian is following all this chatter they would jump in and give some answers instead of hiding in the background.

After seeing the continued delays (and possibility of it still being "vapor") I'll most likely be buying another ICE truck. Wonder how many others are thinking the same way? ?

Not me. I’ll never buy another ICE again. Especially since I like to keep my cars for 10-15 years. I think range anxiety will reverse in 10 years between EV and ICE.

Hold onto your reservation- you might be able to get a new truck -> trade it in or sell it when the max pack is ready as long as the prices are favorable.

They are following and saying the plan to kill off maxpack is going well... the masses are starting to doubt it will materialize and that we should move on and compromise after 4years of waiting.

What kind of work needs 400mi of range?? Seems like that's what the 240ish mi Lightning Pro is for.
You need the bigger battery if you do any extensive towing, as it will drop your mileage by as much as 50% or more, depending on the ambient temperature. The current battery towing in snowy conditions may give you 100 miles only
