So how is the pricing going to work. When I log into the gear shop, the cross bars are $525, but on my build they used to be $450 (I think). So that is not lining up right now. Also, no spare tires in the gear shop yet, let's see what the 20" spare wheel/tire is going to be, it was $800 with my build.

"""""""We are updating the Gear Shop now. In early 2023, prices in the Gear Shop will be adjusted to match your current pricing"""""""". We will notify you when that’s complete. At this time, financing will be unavailable for items purchased in the Gear Shop. We are exploring ways to re-introduce the ability to finance Adventure Gear in the future. When you take delivery of your R1S, your Adventure Gear will ship separately.

I did read the email, but I am currently in the purchasing process not in the future in 2023. So I am in a gap, where they took away my gear options (cross bars, floor mats and spare tire) and I am in no mans land.

Then I'm sure you will have the old pricing. Just in no mans land right now.

Exactly, another half baked message. Granted the number of people in my situation is probably small so I can understand that, but perhaps there should have been a more targeted message, maybe even from our guide's that removed the ambiguity.

I have no issues with this direction. If I can order 2 sets of cross bars in the shop for a discount might even be better for me. However, I’d expect more gear purchased overall at the time the truck is ordered. Like I ordered a bike rack I don’t really need. If the pricing had better margins, could be good for them to keep in the config.
So you have no issue with them removing the 20" AT spare tire you have listed in your sig configuration?
You know you can not get that tire/wheel/TPMS/jack/mount/handle from the SC or Gear Shop currently right? Hope you don't get a blowout....

I’m taking this "We are updating the Gear Shop now. In early 2023, prices in the Gear Shop will be adjusted to match your current pricing." As the spare tire will be available in the gear shop. If they are going to the length of having special pricing in the shop why not add the spare?

Ah,
Another misstep IMHO by them to announce something, change the system but dont have the systems in the background built yet to accommodate. They should announce AFTER their site can support it. Good luck on your Xmas present and Im sure they will take care of you off line somehow.

I’m starting to wonder if the mad rush of deliveries were for non spare tire kit users. For those of you in recent 8 steps, did you have a spare configured?

i agree though not having a spare is a problem, especially for those of us towing something. Getting a blow out in that case can leave you and your equipment stranded. The crossbar I can live with getting later.

It's been a while since I received mine so the process likely has changed, but I didn't receive my spare tire for about 2 months after delivery so i'm not sure how much weight they're putting into people having the spare tire for delivery

If it means I get the R1S sooner I’m fine with it. I had the spare in my configuration and if it shows up in the gear shop I will probably still pick it up but not a show stopper for me.

I think the last time I used a spare was 1989. Have been driving a Tesla for 6.5 years with no spare. Have had my Jeep GC for over 9 years and never pulled the spare out of the compartment and will use the R1S like I use the Jeep. A flat will be inconvenient but based on my history, it is not a highly likely occurrence.

I'm in the 8 step process and have a spare configured (21"). My guide said it probably would have the spare since the truck is already built but wasn't 100% sure.

I know this is the internet, but seriously, I am surprised that this is even halfway controversial..... They said they'd maintain pricing in the gear shop in early 2023. They are a business and they should be allowed to change their operating model, how they sell and features offered.

Are we all going to complain when they decide to update to 800V architecture without warning you 6 months in advance that they were going to do it so that you could tell your guide to delay your shipment for 6 months??? Rivian is allowed to update how they sell their cars. They are allowed to update features offered.

Does the new range estimate figure it in conserve mode or standard? My max range has been showing 326 for the last week or so in conserve mode. Just curious if that number will go up.

Small being upwards of several thousand vehicles.
