The middle section bow-out, this is functional and by design. It bows out giving a little more tread width where you use the step, getting into the truck. It tapers in front and rear, where you dont use the step and where we are working to stay out of the air stream. Maybe the photo angles and off-truck images are causing a little fisheye, but in person and on the truck it is very subtle and looks nice. This maybe a better angle:

I like that part of them as well as most other parts. My only reservation is the plate itself. Other than that, I think they look great. Like the shaping and size and profile.

I personally would prefer this over the logos. Although, my preference would still be a solid plate with no holes/slots open to below. A stamped design rather than cut. But, of the two, this one is more appealing to the eye.

And a big thank you regardless of what changes get made, for at least listening to us. 33 page thread, you've created a monster! But, clearly people are passionate about their trucks and getting boards / crawlers for them, so that's a good thing. I'm excited to get mine either way.

I’m still in the embossed plate or simple/not busy laser cut pattern camp. I’m concerned these would catch the wind and perhaps generate some noise.
@jebinc after all your posts, maybe these running boards aren’t really what you’re looking for in general. Lol. I’m pretty sure you’ve made your repeated opinion pretty clear to the OP. Lol.

Some of you guys are a trip. I like the lessened pattern with holes, if there isn't an added whistle(doubt there will be with the size of the running board supports) then that's likely way to go, embossed/etc will have no grip. The only true other option that will actually look okay would be a 'ribbed' with some sort of textured material(that will undoubtedly require replacement every so often). In reality you could probably put some 3m grip tape over the current design, do some light press on it, and it will look embossed and you'll just need to cycle that out periodically.

Super happy about lengthening the steps. Early ones looked too short.

Also super happy about having different tread plate designs. No disrespect but those logos are awful.

Looking forward to final products.

Looks good. I like the new fasteners for the plate . Looking forward to installing these.

Gang to be clear, the only thing photoshopped on the original was the part onto the truck (mounting brackets were being fab'd). It had the same laser design features (pattern has evolved some, to be clear of Rivian's pattern). It's a tread pattern design. We call it a logo on this particular product, but the product brand logo is 1EV - which is not on the product. But as mentioned, it's easy to make less, more, bigger, smaller, none at all. Stay tuned!
Another example of a functional fill plate. Water and a most debris can get through from the top. But not large enough for sticks that could cause damage to poke through from the bottom.

Note that the holes have "sharp" points up. You could also get them reversed with the smooth entry to the hole up. I had a set as shown on the Tacoma and they were nice for the grip and shoe scrubbing the provided.

The holes did not clog, were easy to clean mud from and were not actually sharp at all.

Food your consideration.....

I understand this product is meant to be a running board / step. But these slits are likely to pick up small sticks that poke into the rocker panel when travel in the direction of the bottom, leading edge.

Much of the country country "roads" (graded gravel/dirt) and virtually all Forest Service "trails" that someone with an R1 might be tempted to take may well have this kind of debris. Even the very easy ones to many camp sites.

Another thought - Given the plate's threaded mounting ribs (that run between the two frame pipes), I'm not sure this rendition could even be properly mounted to the ribs, due tight pattern spacing, and/or bent down tabs. You might even see the rib through the cut outs.

Plate design is OK, but do notice that the plates have no bolts and fit very cleanly to the bars. That's a nice touch.

Phew, what a read!

It is crazy to see so many diverging opinions and poor @EV Sportline seemingly trying to entertain them all...

Not sure why some of you think that you are part of the design process? This is a product they offer, you either like it enough to buy it, or you don't, simple as that.

The irony that this is a Forum, and as such the voice of the people, is not lost on me, but the second guessing of design decisions is a bit much.

We (I) have no clue of the full set of requirements they work to, so to offer up design changes without knowing those requirements, seems silly.

I completely understand you have concerns about wind noise, range and all that good stuff, but in the end, the company offering the product will do their best to offer a product they stand behind (and, in this case, on ;) ) and it is up to us, the consumer, to decide if we like their offering enough to give them our money, not a whole lot more to it.

The more changes we force them to make, the later we get our parts...

Free design idea (from a PM, so salt like the ocean...): Maybe make the tread pattern cutout an oval to match the proportions of the R1T headlights?

This oval motif is used in a bunch of other places throughout the truck (the "pill" indicators in the HVAC interface, recessed handles on the doors, the trim inside the wood dash inlay, the silhouette of the carabiner key, etc.).

A subtle oval pattern would be less busy than a logo motif like the current "star" pattern, and should complement similar shapes and curve radii throughout the vehicle.
Small ovals (actually rectangles with semi-circle haves on each side) in the Rivian headlight style, arranged like diamond plate, is my preference.

I'm an early pre-order and I like everything else about how the design has evolved.

Edit: I just learned that in geometry, the "oval" shape we sometimes refer to on the Rivian is actually a "stadium".

There's design decisions (e.g. bracket design), which I have faith that EV Sportline is on top of and then there are style decisions, which I think are relevant to discuss. After all, we all want a successful product.
