You can't please everyone. The other part of the equation is that a lot of the Rivian crowd are new to off-roading, so they don't have the experience that others do, so whether or not something looks good doesn't mean that it's going to function well (and vice-versa). Sometimes it's hard to take good photos of a product in any situation, let alone something relevant to the function of them!
It’s true, you will never please everyone. I feel that is the case whether you do or don’t jump through hoops in advance. @EV Sportline is doing a great job trying to hear everyone‘s feedback, but from my experience having 100 different answers and requests doesn’t actually help me make any decisions :whew:

Exciting news! Install appointment email came. Running boards being delivered directly to the Van Nuys location for installations beginning 02/15 and thereafter. Being offered 2 time slots, drop off 9am/pick up 1pm or drop off 1pm/pick up 5pm. Very excited!
I received my appointment as well. I opted for 2/15 at 1pm. Looking forward to it. Happy Valentine's Day to me!

I got the email too! I have an appt at the El Segundo SC on 2/13 so I'm waiting to get an answer from them as to how long they'll have my R1T before I schedule the running boards installation. Crossing my fingers everything pans out and I can get the running boards installed by 2/15 as my birthday is 2/16.

Just pre-ordered the sliders. I'm really looking forward to getting them. 1/2 the price of competitors and the running boards look better than the others, so I have no doubts the sliders will be great.

Good to know they are shipping. Still deciding if I want to just drill the holes or actually take the plastic off and cut the slits.

Is there any modification required to attach the rock sliders if we change to that versus the running boards?

Video #2 - this is OPTIONAL (you can pull the panels off for good (never cut them), or you can trim them like we show here and re-use them), for those that want to re-use the plastic panels, this video details the options for creating bracket clearance holes.

Option 1 - use our template and a 4" hole saw, easy. No need to pull the panels off. Makes install even that much easier.

Option 2 - use our template to trim a slim slot in the panels for the brackets to pass through. You need to pull the panels off, trim them, install our brackets, then re-install the plastic panels.

More to come!!!!

I like the ease of the 4" holes for install, but am concerned that dirt will build up inside the panels over time and maybe cause them to drop off. Thoughts?

I saw a post that suggested using caps like these to fill the 4" holes and notching them to tightly fit the bracket. What do you think?

I like the idea. On my access road, I can't have 4" holes in something like this, the accumulation of 5/8 minus gravel would eventually get pretty heavy. Anyone know the plastic cover thickness?

No - they've said a few times that if you get rock sliders it basically replaces the plastic panels entirely, so you can just keep them safely stored somewhere.

Thanks. Thinking I'll upgrade to the rock sliders.

Trying to find the tools recommended now. Assume following will work?

https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN-13-Piece-Set-Drive-Torx-Bit-Torx-Driver-Socket-Set/1000595141 -- think this set contains both torx bits needed per the install video?

Yes those should be sufficient. Cheaper at harbor freight though.
