I'll know next week when I pickup my 184XX R1T in Vancouver!Wondering at what VINs R1Ts started seeing this. My still in QC VIN of 181XX range has yet to ship from normal. Any T’s in that range have the confirmed 12V?
My money is still on redesigning it to only have a single magnet, and whoever did copied an older frunk revision without the 12V socket, and no-one caught the mistake until they had already made a lot of them. The ones without the 12V socket don't have the depression in the tub there, so it's not just that they didn't cut the hole out.I think this was a supply chain issue like others have said. The real question, and the thing that will undoubtedly [sarcasm implied] open the floodgates for new orders, is whether we will see the return of the wood grain trim on the seat back panel where the hook is....
I hear you. The single magnet makes sense to me. Do you really need two magnets? A lot of people were upset about the 12 volt because it completely changes the functionality of the Frunk so maybe, just maybe, Rivian was having a supply chain issue before, deleted it thinking that they would keep it that way moving forward, but decided to reintegrate it once they were able to secure enough parts because people complained so much.My money is still on redesigning it to only have a single magnet, and whoever did copied an older frunk revision without the 12V socket, and no-one caught the mistake until they had already made a lot of them. If their PLM controls are that bad… I’m worried about everything else ?My money is still on redesigning it to only have a single magnet, and whoever did copied an older frunk revision without the 12V socket, and no-one caught the mistake until they had already made a lot of them. Wonder if this is an official change?I'm a bit nervous since mine will be 182XX so I hope they started popping them back in by that point, but I guess we'll see. Waiting for someone with a lower 18XXX to confirm.
It's a simple enough change that they probably made an intern do it and whoever was responsible for watching the intern work didn't think to check it.If their PLM controls are that bad… I’m worried about everything else ?
wounder what their cost threshold is for change review then. It's a simple enough change that they probably made an intern do it and whoever was responsible for watching the intern work didn't think to check it.
I just picked mine up today 2/17/2023 and no frunk charger.I just picked up my 2023 mid 18000 vin R1T and to my surprise it has a 12 volt DC outlet in the frunk! I said to the service guy "I thought they removed these months ago?" and he replied "yep, they did. you must have an older build." I pointed out the 2023 on the sticker and the Vin and he repsonded with "oh wow, looks like it's back." While I don't know if mine was a fluke or not, I certainly have it on a 2023 and I'm very happy about it.
Update:
I have confirmed the outlet works. And here is a picture for those with trust issues.

Curious your VIN range? in the 18k's?I just picked mine up today 2/17/2023 and no frunk charger.
I get the 12v but is that second magnet really doing all that much for you?Well, I have to say two magnets and a 12V plug in the frunk is way better than a powered tonneau!
