I'm curious what people's thoughts are around the value of the R1T Launch Edition compared to the Adventure Edition. They are basically the same trucks, but will Launch Editions be valued higher and also retain their value over time better than Adventures, just because they are technically a limited edition?

It will probably depend on colour. Launch green is only on launch editions for example.

Launch Edition doesn't seem to offer much.

Really it is:
  1. A custom color (Launch Green)
  2. A free tire upgrade (20" AT standard or bright, $2500 value at new pricing)
  3. Launch Edition badging in the front interior trim.
  4. Wristband key (added by bd5400)
  5. Powered Tonneau Cover included (added by @AdamsFan1983 )
I think that's it?

My secret hope is that there's some additional benefits down the line for the loyal folks who took a chance and placed an early pre-order. Maybe free charging, or extended Rivian membership, etc. Only time will tell.

How about the 16k savings after price rollback?

Edit:

Thinking about an early adopter and what that means for real cash. Since the EDVs will eat into the 200k vehicles for the tax rebate, that means probably 100k of the R1 series that will be eligible for the full rebate.

Calculating the dollars value for me being an early reservation here in California including the price rollback. It will be $25.6k real money I save.

R1S ordered

$16k - dollars saved with price rollback
$1600 - Dollars saved on initial tax and license with rollback
$500 - VLF fees saved over 10 years based on VLF fee schedule after rollback

$7500 - full tax rebate Being in first 200k deliveries

The wristband key is included free on the launch edition but must be purchased for Adventure and Explore.

I was just looking at this difference as I found a used launch edition for sale (3,600 miles) that basically is the same as what i'm waiting on. I think the specs as described above amount to no difference to me between launch vs explore.

I looked at it this way:

Downsides:
  • Used, 3,600 miles & Unknown usage during those 3,600 miles
  • Used cars have higher interest rates for loans
  • Different tires then i’d order (20 vs 21)
  • $14K more expensive than current new and they probably paid $16K less than current pricing
  • Private sale & hassles that can come with that
  • No tax rebates at that price for used EV, with new EV non-refundable option (which I did) should be able to get the rebates regardless of price/income level
  • Maybe better build quality in newer ones?
Upsides:
  • Right color
  • Launch version
  • Ready now, no idea when inventory one would come along
Basically those pricing used EVs above current market are really hoping for someone that needs it now vs able to be patient.

My F350 still runs so i'm going to wait it out until the F350 dies or Rivian produces a new R1T for me.

I waited, now I have a VIN and am going through the 8 step process. Getting close.

Does the Adventure package come with anything in the gear tunnel doors?

Powered tonneau was just baked into the base price. An LE at original pricing is $73k base whereas an Adv base is $71.5k with the powered tonneau as a $1.5k option.

Thanks! Is the first aid kit is a stripped down version of the field kit or what?

I looked at the field kit but it seems the fit in the passenger door isn't perfect and it takes up valuable space.

You just have to readjust items in the Field Kit to get it in the door, fits fine for me.

Do you really need a tourniquet, QuikClot, and scalpel? Personally, I feel better going into the woods with my chainsaw solo having this around. But most folks will be fine with the stock First Aid kit.
