Rivian and jackstands

Ive had my Rivi on a jack stand, there was plenty of space with the panel off, I used a combination of a 3 ton floor jack and the stand.

I’m not sure how well those trim parts will hold up to frequent removal, I noticed when mine were off at the tire shop the other day that the male plastic part that clips into the truck was getting deformed, I guess the 3rd time it’s been removed.

Also have the quickjacks 7000SLX that I use for all of my ICE cars, but still not sure how I will lift Rivian R1S when I get it. When my neighbor brings another tester, or he gets his R1, I'll take a better look underneath.

The TLX won't work on the R1 vehicles. The distance between the jack points is too great for any QuickJack. The jack lift points pads have a front to rear spacing of 86" on the Rivian.

The ELX Quickjack may work if you take off the plastic panels because it has a 76" max lift point width.

I have a Quickjack TLX and it's lift point spread is only 66".

I do this with my Miata, which is juuust too short for my quickjack to fit between the wheels and lift.

how about using the hitch to raise it till you can fit stands under?

Page 189 of the manual covers lifting it. It's hard to tell but it looks like there is a decent sized area of frame rail that you can use to lift. Might be enough room to slide a jack stand next to the jack?

You can also jack it up via the control arms. I was able to securely lift the front (haven't tried the rear) by placing a jack just under where the strut connects with the lower control arm. Use a rubber "puck" to avoid marring the LCA. Then place your jack stand under the regular lift point.

I personally jacked up the truck using the lower control arms. Didn't have jack pucks yet when I swapped out the wheels. Have them now, but still think its easier jacking up from the lower control arms since they're lower and you don't have to jack up beyond the suspension travel. Need a pretty tall jack to jack these things up from the jacking puck locations.

I'd have to look again, but since I was able to get a jack safely under the control arms, assuming I could put jack stands there too. Not sure there's a way to put a jack stand in the pace of the jacking puck, being the way jack stands are shaped. So my guess, from experienced with jacking it up would be to jack it up with the jacking pucks, then put the jack stands under the control arms and set down on those.

Thanks, is a 3 ton jack sufficient for jacking just one corner (wheel). The R1S is 7,000 lb. Just want to make sure my 3 ton jack and 3 ton stands are sufficient for one corner. Thanks

I would have no problem using it for one corner or even half the truck. That gives you 6,000 lbs capacity, enough to jack up either side or the front or rear. Just one corner will certainly be well below capacity. 7,000 lb truck means you only need 1,750 lb capacity if doing a corner at a time. 3,000 lbs x 4 corners means you'd have 12,000 capacity if you had four 3-ton jacks. Well than enough to cover all four corners of the truck.

Does anyone know if the R1 have front/rear center jack points? wondering how you can use jack stands without having those to use to lift the vehicle using a jack.

I use these combo Jack/jackstands, they seem to be out of stock currently but there are other brands.
