You will miss out on gap upside moves because of the calls you sell. Not making money by missing out is just as bad as losing money

Rivian is now at the highest short interest % that I’ve seen. Makes the possibility of a strong rally on good news.

I don't know if you could short it now even if you wanted to short a $12 stock. It's listed as HTB and I imagine there's an interest burden to match the risk.
I didn't have the sense to short $RIVN at $130, I'm not going to start shorting at $13 … : )

short volume is starting to brew up to 70% over a 30 day period. Just like how I like it. Keep dollar cost averaging as they short harder and harder.

More and more volume is being moved off exchange and into CBOE. Again a beautiful sign when looking to short and dollar cost average into a nice position.

No it doesn’t, because you lose money when the stock moves up gradually, beyond what you’ve collected in atm option premium. The stock’s gain is used to cover your atm call loss. This is a reasonably probabilistic outcome.

Your scenario of making money is actually a narrow window of outcomes.

No such thing as a perfect hedge or free money.
