R1S Shop access live with lots of inventory!

Just wanted to share my experience with the R1S Shop. After finally getting access to the shop last week, I found the exact R1S vehicle I preordered and confirmed it quickly...after quickly double checking to make sure I wasn't hallucinating! The cool thing is that it's a Launch edition which actually saved me money due to the free tire/wheel upgrade. This after being told by my guide that there were hardly any adventure editions in the R1S shop AND that I wouldn't be able to see any Launch editions when i first asked for shop access. Soooo...just wanted to share my experience in case it helps others. I appreciated being able to see what was in the shop and what others got.

So you are getting the vehicle in two days? It must be in your SC? Denver does have a ton of room to hold vehicles. Did you find out the VIN as I am interested in a Launch Edition as well but wonder how low the VINs are?

Yes, I am getting my R1S in 2 days and agree that it must have already been delivered to the Denver SC. Once I clicked confirm to lock in the vehicle from the R1Shop I immediately got an email asking me to schedule delivery date and the earliest was tomorrow.

The last 4 of my VIN is 6975 if that helps. I saw someone yesterday say they confirmed similar R1S as mine but had a VIN around 8XXX and that it was still in Normal, IL and was going to be about 4 weeks for delivery. When I spoke with my Rivian Insurance person yesterday, they said my car was a 2023 model as well.

Great config -- congrats on snagging it and being able to pick it up so quickly after purchasing!

Just as context for others, I confirmed a shop LE last week that's being shipped out from the Normal plant and my VIN was 61XX so they seem to be sort of all over the place with sequencing on these.

Also, as far as confirming the year (which it sounds like insurance did for you), the 10th position in the VIN indicates the year (N=2022, P=2023). You can also run it on the NHTSA website for all the nerd details: https://www.nhtsa.gov/vin-decoder

EDIT: JUST GOT THE EMAIL STATING MY R1S IS READY FOR DELIVERY (SHOP CONFIGURATOIN CONFIRMED LAST WEDNESDAY - 6 DAYS AGO) AND CAN SCHEDULE PICKUP AT THE SERVICE CENTER AS SOON AS THURSDAY (4/20). LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE MOVING THESE OUT PRETTY QUICK AT THIS POINT!

Ok. So I am starting to having second thoughts considering Rivian doest qualify for the EV credit anymore. What are the ramifications of canceling the R1S shop selection and deciding to get back in the queue or canceling altogether?

Quick question - what VIN range was your LE? Trying to figure out if they’re still making these or if the rest we’ll see are mostly Adventure with the occasional LE to fulfill customer orders.

I think there are still a lot of R1S LE orders waiting to be filled, including mine. I am hoping the majority of LE’s coming off the line will already have owners waiting for them.

What sort of stings for my situation is that I missed the tax credit deadline by a day or two. I started the 8 step process yesterday but had to wait on Rivian to get everything all set up for me to pay for it today and sign contract. But I had mentally prepared myself that I wasn't going to get the credit in 2023 anyways given the news update and wasn't sure if I would get lucky and find a vehicle through the shop. I did sign the PBA last aug. but waiting to talk with my accountant to see if i can do an amendment for 2022 and get the credit that way. I'm hearing mix opinions about whether this is still possible or not given all the recent updates.

My understanding from others is that you have R1 Shop access until your car is ready to be built and then you lose access. So you can still just wait and even then you can decline on purchasing.

But this car is what I need and can't find another car that suits my taste/needs/preference. I want to support this company and want an electric SUV. But realize others will have different needs/situation. There is also talk about whether Rivian will allow a lease option which then allows them to pass along the $7,500 rebate to the buyer and that doesn't have income or price restrictions and other car companies are already offering this, i believe Hyundai is.

This almost went too quickly, I figured I had a few weeks to get all of my finances straight. This is a good problem to have, I'm not complaining.

And yes, I am still lurking on this page to see the other R1S's in the shop.

EDIT** If you already confirmed a R1 Shop selection and cancel it then you have to go back to the end of the line.

What's your source for this information? My understanding, based on conversations with my guide, was that if you cancel the shop selection you go back to where you were in line, not to the end of the line.

Picked a Forest Green / Forest Edge R1S with 21" wheels out of the Shop a week and a half ago. Just completed my 8 Steps and I'm waiting for the delivery to be scheduled...

Just wondering how many of you have driven the R1S before purchasing? I have driven the R1T and will drive the R1S at my First Mile this week. Anyone who has driven the S, was it different than you thought it would be and why?

I have driven the R1S, not an R1T. The acceleration was insane and more violent than anticipated. I didn't have any complaints about the ride and the steering was precise. The air suspension compressor was a bit noisy but I was also playing with the ride height a lot. Plenty of interior room, similar to our Highlander Hybrid.
