Regardless, the absolute worst thing ever is when a company thinks they have the right to infringe on foundational constitutional rights. Private company or not, I do not support anyone who infringes on the rights endowed upon us by our creator.

Two cables are there for redundancy in case of breakage. If they have different connectors, that redundancy is gone and I suspect station reliability will go down. You could solve this by having everyone carry an adapter, but I'm not sure everyone will.

I have never been able to use the second cable because the station is down as a whole. My last few trips through Tennessee, NC, and VA have been some of my worst experiences with EA ever. Thankfully there was a new charger at a Circle K as EA did not report their station was down as a result of construction.

As more and more vehicles switch to the NACS standard, the current CCS suppliers EA, EVGo and others will have to also switch to offering NACS charging which would ultimately create competition with Tesla Supercharging. It's available now with a CCS to Tesla adapter. With that, most of the initial arguments fall apart.

Ackchooly... there are DCFC adapters that allow a Tesla to charge at a CS charger but I have yet to see one that allows a CCS vehicle to charge at a Tesla charger. Please post a link if I am mistaken.

Let's examine the evidence:

Tesla supercharger network -> Excellent. Fast charging, always a load of stalls, good locations, rarely broken, payment taken directly.

EA, EVGo, Whatever other 3rd party charger -> Dog sh!t. They only ever seem to install 4-6 charging units in most locations, its 50/50 which ones work, payment system is also temperamental, need to download 3rd party apps and then also check on Plugshare. Unreliable at best.

I'm so glad Tesla are "poised to dominate the development and buildout of future charging market". They've done a pretty good job so far. Certainly don't want to rely on EA.

Cost is a thing and competition helps with cost. Currently in Northern CA you pull into an EA station and add 90 kW to your Rivian it sets you back $32.40, you find a Tesla Magic Dock down the street you pull in, that same 90 kW sets you back $50.40.

There is a reason people see Teslas at the EA stations on occasion, it is saving cash.

The newer EA stations are mostly coming with a single longer cable.
