Has anyone received their refund for an amended 2022 federal tax return?

The IRS should now properly give you the credit for purchases with a binding contract dated before 8/16/23, so if you're appealing, keep pushing.

I say this because it appears Rivian has now informed the IRS that the 2023 models purchased prior to 8/16/22 are eligible for credit.

This is based on 2023 having been recently added to this list on the IRS website https://www.irs.gov/credits-deducti...d-clean-vehicles-purchased-in-2022-and-before

I just checked my mailbox and I had a check sitting in the mailbox for $7,579. That's pretty much 10% of the vehicle price.

Picked up vehicle on June 17 and filed amended tax return on June 18.

Check in the mailbox on August 1st.

After 20+ weeks, contacted IRS and was informed that they are mailing a check on 8/14/23. A check? really? I thought i had set for an electronic payment. Whatever, just show me tha money! LOL

Because of a higher potential for fraud on amended returns receiving a credit, they only do physical checks for those. And only will mail to the address on the original 1040.

Picked up on 30 June, eFiled amended 2022 tax return 01 July with VIN and 15 August 2022 purchase agreement date (used H&R Block software)


Received a paper check in the mail from IRS earlier this week (30. July) for the $7500 + $99.90 interest

Had a minor heart attack when my wife and I (filing jointly) both received individual letters from the IRS a few days after that, but they turned out to just be paper notice that our 2022 tax return had been modified and that a check had been cut for the refund amount

The whole process was way easier than I imagined

What you stated makes total sense, and I got $146.69 for intrest to boot for my troubles lol.

Sorry to jump in on the end of this, but if I am taking delivery of a 2022 pre-order, that I had signed the purchase agreement for (non-refundable $100 of my $1000 back in August 2022 or whenever that was), sometime in 1H next year, do I still file an amended 2022 return? Or what tax work should I be looking at for this?
