I wonder if there will be a similar event for the Portland shop?
Also, did they get some regs changed to be able to open an "Experience Center" in WA? Seems a lot like sales activity which I thought was still being strangled by the dealership racket lobby?

The new Seattle place is in the old Amazon Bookstore, just a few hundred feet away from the Tesla showroom and the now-closed b8ta store. My guess is that Rivian is deliberately walking a fine line here - it's going to be hard to stop them from doing exactly what Tesla is doing a few hundred feet away. This new location is decoupled from and distinct from the service center. I imagine they will sell branded merchandise but not vehicle accessories, and I imagine they will have an R1T and an R1S to show. But I don't think they will help with purchasing or financing or test drives or anything like that - you will still have to do that online, which is what makes this not-a-dealership. It could even be like the b8ta store in some way, where they give you a terminal to let you order online after seeing the product in person.

My wife & son are planning on going because we have yet been able to see a Rivian up close & personal, get a good look at the colors, not to mention asking a few questions.

it will be a while before we’ll be proud owners though because my Wife has decreed we must wait for the dual motor, standard pack, configuration to become available so the truck will qualify for the tax credit & we’ll still have a few bucks remain to get one of the optional colors, and the manual tonneau cover too.
