Dogs and Rivians 🐾

I figured I would start a new thread about how dogs and Rivians work together. I would guess that at least 75% Rivian owners have at least one dog they take with them on trips. Many have 2 or more and that means on average there is at least one dog per Rivian family on a per capita basis. Here is my 90 lb. Catahoula Leopard dog "SOOKIE" and her cage in a R1T back seat. This is a set up to allow her easy access to the top of the seat and not crowd her in with the seat folded. I though of removing the seat bottom but that is still a big jump up and you loose 2 seating positions when the dog is not tripping with you.

Low effort approach. We just put a kennel in the back seat - leveled with a rolled up towel . He's young and spry, so we just have him jump up. Worked well from Minneapolis to Tacoma and back. As a bonus we can just bring the kennel into the hotel room.

I built a 70/30 folding bench out of plywood and carpet for the 2 of them in the back.

But it doesn't stop the small one from jumping up front and apparently falling sleep on the dash while I'm grabbing bagels and coffee. He's not even long enough to do this, so I have no idea what his front paws were on at this point.

I had a license plate frame made that says “the only gas in here belongs to the dogs.” Unfortunately, it’s hard to read because the camera blocks the top part.
Note the fur accumulating already.
Only the big golden, my sister’s dog, will make the jump into the back, the other 2 take the side door. Still considering some steps.

Bennie uses a combination of a medium sized Amazon half hammock and a full size dog bed.

the hammock uses a couple fiberglass rods to stiffen extends the platform a bit past the regular seat width and zips up to protect the door handle

Also worth mentioning the doggo ramp for rtt use
