MYP, GL550, M3, Jag XJL SC, R1S & CT on order
Fair points. If gov’t pays to retrofit (don’t agree gov’t should be building SC), Tesla does not bear cost. The NJTP example is again uneducated buyer. Very easy to see where SC’s are/are not along route. Tesla only option for easy long haul right now.

Tesla SC are not on NYS Thruway (I90) and also have to get off to charge. True of most highways , I have found incl Garden State.

Do you think other networks “can't seem to get into those same areas along major routes” b/c they are being blocked or are they afraid of putting up the cost of building out network ahead of demand.

Tesla took that chance years ago and that is why they are the EV leader and so far ahead. That said, opening SC network is game changer my R1S on order. Not so good for MYP, MSP and CT (on order also)

I believe the level 1 and level 2 stations do actually work with adapters … Tesla Tap Mini adapter for one.
The numbers I listed were for Superchargers, not destination or other. v1 and v2 refer to the design generation of the supercharger. No superchargers work with Tesla Tap adapters, nor will they ever. Superchargers use a proprietary communication protocol that isn't compatible with the hardware in any vehicle other than a Tesla. Even with the Tesla-approved "NACS" adapter that they've promised to GM, Ford, Rivian, et al, those adapters won't work with the first two generations of supercharger pedestals. Only v3 and later will ever work with any non-Tesla vehicle.

My mistake.

I was aware that no present adapters work on existing Tesla Superchargers, but I thought you were talking about Level 1 and 2 chargers.

Since I have never owned a Tesla I was not familiar with “v1”, “v2”, etc.; but I guess I am now. Does that mean that the “Magic Dock” chargers are “v3” superchargers?

Thank you for explaining. Much appreciated.

Yep, all of the Magic Dock adapters are on v3 chargers. There are some v4 out there, but I think only in Europe so far.

one problem with the v3 chargers is that they have relatively short cables. Tesla can get away with that for now because all Teslas have the charge port at the far driver-side rear. Other cars obviously don’t, so the current v3 cables are going to be a big problem when other cars start trying to park to use a charger. V4 seems to have longer cables again.

I think they won't be rolling out very quickly with the announcement of other companies joining the supercharger network. I was actually surprised that they added the one in Texas after the NY and CA ones. If Tesla was serious about the magic dock they would have rolled them out much quicker.
I agree. If I am Tesla why would I want someone to have to fiddle with the app to start a charging session and maintain the magic dock adapters. Just sell individual adapters to users, those adapters are tied to their Tesla accounts (or their payment with the OEM), and then its simply plug and charge just like Tesla vehicles are now.
