Someone yesterday had confirmed that Softopper is going make one for the R1T. Obviously not the solution if you require a hard cap, but I think theirs is a great solution As well.
That's who I wish would make a topper for the bed. I had one of theirs on my previous truck and for mine and my families needs it was perfect. Kept everything in the bed dry when I wanted it to and would fold up and out of the way when I needed to get mulch or firewood or move a refrigerator or whatever. The ability to roll up the sides or open them in sections was great for my dogs when they were in the back. I emailed Softopper a year ago or so and they said if the need was there then they would start looking into it. They are already made with boxed metal rails to mount to the sides of the bed so if Rivian would just work with them to figure out a solution to mount those rails to the existing mounts on the bed where the crossbar go it could just click on and click off in 30 seconds once it's assemble. It would be perfect!

Agree 100%. I have never owned a softopper but after living with a hard cap for a couple years I realized the soft cap is a much better solution for the reasons you stated. Their HQ is about a 30 minute drive from me. Maybe once I get my Rivian I can contact them and see if they need access to one at this point. I would be surprised if someone else hasn't already done that yet though. Lots of R1Ts driving around this and that area these days.

Yep I agree as well. I was hoping with the Denver area so filled up with Rivians that they would get the point and start figuring out a mounting system that would work with it. They supposedly have me on a list to notify me of and when they will have one for us.

Their covers are very popular around here so I’m sure it’s just a matter of time. If they will make them for 1970’s Broncos, they will eventually make one for Rivian.

That's good to hear. I know they would sell a bunch of them if they would just invest the time and resources into making them. I'm from Memphis and I bought that Softopper in 2017 to go on a 2017 GMC 2500 and for the 4 years I had that truck I only ever saw one other person in the whole city with one. A black Tacoma. I've actually been stopped more times by people asking about that top back then than I have been stopped about my R1T, but I've only had it for a month and a half. But I'm in Dayton, OH now and i've only seen 2 other Rivians here and ZERO Softoppers. My fingers are crossed.

I should have mine s00n and I promise I will get as many answers as I can, even if I have to block the CEOs parking spot with my Rivian to get them to talk to me :CWL:

Reactivating this thread.

I did a search, and no bed cap solutions appear to be available yet. Has anyone had better luck?

We are entering in the second year of production, Close to 30k trucks produced and no single manufacturer wants to make the bed cap.

Having had toppers on previous trucks, including the Raptor I sold after taking delivery of my Rivian, the biggest challenges I see with a cap designed for the R1T bed are buttons integrated into the bed rails and the aero bits off the back of the cab. Those are definite design constraints, on an already limited production product (due to small market size at the moment). It seems like having "cut outs" in the design to accommodate gear tunnel and tailgate buttons would work, but makes for more expensive manufacturing costs due to added complexity. And the aero bits would likely need to be removed to get a clean, flush fitment like most ICE trucks have. It's possible the front of the topper could be "indented" such that it fits around the side aero pieces, but the roof spoiler is more challenging. The fabricated cap someone posted a while back in this thread highlights both issues (aero/buttons), and their solution makes the cap look home made (functional, but not a very integrated design).

This appears to be the only one available right now. It just barely fits the Rivian and it’s obviously not a weatherproof or permanent solution. I strongly considered one and actually ordered it, but they kept missing delivery dates and I eventually cancelled. Nice folks though!
