I contacted customer service today and got the pre produced answer that it was for the quad motors only. They created a service ticket for me and I uploaded an image of the release. It doesn’t seem to be a bug according to Rivian.

Had they been transparent in the release that the gauges were only for the quads, I would have been annoyed but not upset. By advertising them as being for everyone, it seems like either a willful omission or a last minute decision to limit who gets them. Either way, its off in my opinion.
Based on that press release I'd have to agree with you. If they wanted to differentiate based on the motors they need to say so, or omit describing the gauges all together and just have the little asterisk with it saying different configurations get different software. But saying that everyone gets gauges and not giving them is not smart business.

To be clear I think Rivian SHOULD start differentiating between quad and dual more and an 8K dollar difference with exact same otherwise is not to Rivian's benefit. But in this instance they claimed it would be an update for all and specifically mentioned that feature. You can't tell someone they are getting something then not give it last minute.

The standard dual motor truck first says swipe for gauges. When you swipe the message disappears and then nothing happens.

So kind of odd that it shows a swipe message if you don’t get them.
My thoughts exactly! Why was there anything about this in the release notes?! I would not expect a premium company like Rivian to pull this bait and switch. How much are they really saving by denying this valuable info to a small select group?

Service is inept... its already been shown in this thread that it isn't for quad motors only so clearly they have no idea what they are talking about.

Its for all quad motors and all dual motors except the bare bones ones without the AT package or performance package.

Yeah, I don’t think they did a risk/ reward calculation for this decision. I doubt if they’d sell more performance or duals because you get a couple extra gauges and information but you risk pissing a lot of customers off by creating an experience disparity.

I agree with all of that except the last part. This idea that the non-performance dual motor is “bare bones” is off. It’s the exact same truck, just less horsepower. It’s not like it has a better interior or suspension or battery or anything. Its the same

Just a description. Call it what you want. I was just making the point that the inept service agent you talked to gave you bad information.

I appreciate that. I’m just trying to go against the justification that so many have used for why one truck should or should not get something as simple as some decently basic gauges.

So.... does anyone with a Dual plus the All Terrain Package have the update yet and can confirm whether that has the gauges?

There was a guy on reddit that does.

Yes, a Reddit user gave screenshots showing the gauges. They had Soft Sand, but not Sport.

Thought everyone clarified that his was a PERFORMANCE?
It was thought to be performance, because it had 4 drive modes. But a lot of people didn't realize that the 4th mode was Soft Sand, not Sport.

So in summary, the following people have confirmed whether or not they have gauges:

  • Quad Motor: Yes
  • Dual Motor Performance: Yes
  • Dual Motor (+ All Terrain Package, but not Performance): Yes
  • Dual Motor (base): No

The 30K comes from the base model dual and quads configured like my truck. Apparently they are charging that 8K just for the quad so you're right you could get a stripped quad for 8K more. Even more reason for them to differentiate them with software to motivate people to spend the extra money.
So you mean like a powered tonneau, or optional off road package and 20" wheels...all options on the dual motor. Don't get your point?

You're right, I stand corrected. Based on that according to Rivian you were promised the gauges. Maybe it's just a glitch as others have stated then because it appears Rivian intended on everyone getting them from that press release.
What happened to the "show me the contract stance"? You went all in on that and now because of a non-binding email have changed your stance?
