If this is how my R1S interprets this situation I’m am super thankful there is no real auto drive! WTH. Gotta do better than this.
A car in front of me, one beside him and finally a car next to me. Everyone evenly in their own lane. This should be a no brainer. Still can’t figure out why they even have this view in the middle. Not very confidence inspiring

My R1S has done this since day one. Kinda annoying if you ask me.

Why? Driver plus still works fine when it displays this.
So driver plus is not auto drive. It only works in one lane and now we know why. Cuz the car doesn’t seem to have a damn clue what is going on beyond that. I guess it must look okay to you.

What is auto drive? I’ve heard of cruise, autopilot, etc but not auto drive.

As long as it doesn’t have auto drive we all will!
I used driver plus a ton on a very long trip, on open roads for long stretches it is a good highway driver assist. Made for some pretty relaxed long stretches.

It is the same way I use autopilot on my Tesla. I never use either of them unless I have a lot of open road. They both work very similar, they tend to leave large gaps and then overreact when a car jumps into the gap. Just not a great experience.

Only change I would like to see Rivian make is allow the current functionality to work on any highway it can read the lines. Then they could save the hands free portion for the mapped roads.

Is this the first vehicle you have had that has shown this information? If it is, did you think it would always be correct? The display is showing you how it's processing the information from the cameras/sensors. Is it always correct, no. Should you still be driving, yes. Should you be watching the display or out the windshield? You should be looking out the windshield.

Um. I know what it is. My point was if the car is using the same info to make decisions it might not be the best situation. If it were to use this info to drive itself it had better be correct all the time. Obviously it’s not. Hence my comment.
I happened to look at it while sitting at a stoplight. You can see it’s red in the picture. It serves no useful purpose so I rarely look at it all. Actually I just thought it was funny how poorly it assessed a simple situation. They have some work to do and I look forward to the improvements.

Does it matter? If the car is stopped in front of you facing straight, sideways, or upside down, do you want your vehicle to move forward or stay at a stand still? Continue standing still? Guess the correct action will be taken in that case.
