I do not recall one being able to block access, use of the car once a "key" is in hand. Give the car, keys up and move on to having the vehicle tracked, found like others have noted. I would have someone else with access to the app, listed as an authorized driver. Preferably someone not usually in the car with you.

Now, if you are this concerned with being robbed, you might need to make other choices on where you go, live. Just saying.

EDIT: Well, the next post promptly and properly reminded me, us of the simple way to deactivate the keys..

1. Give them the key card or fob
2. Open the Rivian app (on another phone if necessary)
3. Go to Security & Access > Drivers & Keys
4. Select the stolen key and deactivate
5. Call the cops and share the location with them
6. Wait for the thief to stop and leave the vehicle
7. Go get your truck

.45 ACP right hip.

Not a lot of car-jacking here in Southern Oregon because that is kind of the norm here...
?
And despite all the right-wing media presentation of Portland as being a lawless hellhole, I have never known even an “acquaintance of an acquaintance” who has been carjacked. It just isn’t exactly a common thing at all.

Yeah you will just get a line of people queuing up to piss on your car.

Seriously. There is a large population here that like me are armed, hostile, and looking for trouble.

There is a reason mass shooters pick churches, not biker bars. Car jackers are looking to get a car, not to meet their maker...

This is an intersting point. If you are truely concerned then:

1. Pay attention to your surroundings.
2. Don't be or go somewhere your gut tells you not to.
3. If this does happen-carry the big fat key and hand that to the bad guy. Giving a card or your phone might just piss them off.
4. Call 911 and then Rivian and see if they can stop the car.
6. Pray that the car gets bricked.

Unless you are constantly in an area that is risky-relax. Otherwise get a beater car for those trips. Stay safe mate!

I visit Portland regularly and already have been there several times since getting my truck. One time I was about to fall asleep in the back seat, in a quiet, dark, seemingly fairly safe residential area in SE. I happened to see a guy come up to the car parked in front of me with a backpack and flashlight looking in the driver window, I assume for stuff to steal. He then came to my truck, my driver's window, not seeing me as my windows, especially the rears, are tinted dark. I ducked down behind the seat and opened the Rivian app on my phone and activated the alarm. Immediately he ran away. I left and went to a friend's place.

If this had happened fifteen minutes later I would have been asleep and may have been awakened by my window being smashed in.

My bear spray (normally for hiking but serving dual purpose) was in its usual spot in the front driver door pocket. After this I now keep it next to me me if I ever need to sleep in my truck.

A few months before this in Portland at a downtown hotel parking garage my sister and brother in law had their car window broken into and a bunch of things stolen.

These are obviously not car jackings, which as you say are very rare. But scary and concerning nonetheless.

I have the Rivian app on my iPad. It is not setup as a key but I can manage the keys and find the location.

Seems reasonable for basic "just in case." Inexpensive, non-leathl diversion.

Hopefully Rivian will add “pin to
Drive” like Tesla. You can leave them the car and run away. They can’t drive without the pin and should give up.

Open gear tunnel with app and slide in before they take off. Wait until they get home or to a safe place. Slip out under the cover of night and burglarize their home and leave with the goods.

Don't want to dismiss the OPs concern but the odds of this happening are extremely low. However, if it did happen give up the keycard or fob. Phone app will show current vehicle location. Lose your phone too? Hopefully you have a 2nd driver assigned and can follow vehicle location on their phone
You don’t live in the Bay Area. It is unfortunately more routine than reported.

I will be a new R1T owner as of T-Day 2023 and have never owned an EV or any vehicle with enhanced anti-theft functions. Bear with me with this perhaps naĂŻve question:

If someone points a gun at me and demands my key card, carabiner, or phone to control the truck how do I block their use? Will giving them the "keys" enable their full access? Is there a password I can implement? Will tracking assist Rivian in finding the stolen truck?
Thanks in advance for your help; I plan to keep bear spray in the door pouch regardless.
Wait, this question is really only valid if you live in Brazil or South Africa.

Edit: And the Bay area apparently. Seriously, why do you people put up with all that? My understanding is everyone has to empty their car of everything, no one has unbroken back windows, and there's human poop all over the sidewalk. No weather is worth that.
