Has anyone seen any posts or videos showing the results of water tests performed on the Rivian (and maybe Interrobang) manual tonneau covers? I’ve been looking around, pretty thoroughly (at least I think pretty thoroughly) and haven’t come across any.

I seem to recall some pics here from forum members who tested the Rivian manual cover and the Interrobang cover. They weren’t in the same threads, but I do remember seeing that. The Rivian cover is only listed as “water resistant” and some water got through. The Interrobang cover didn’t allow any water in if I recall…

The Lomax cover seems to do a good job keeping water out.
I had the Lomax on my previous truck and it was really good but did end up leaking after I took it off for two days. Plus, it won’t work with the bars on the truck bed. That all said, I’ll go with the lomax if the other two leak off from day one.

I haven’t seen any reviews, but I haven’t heard of any leaking from the Rivian cover. In fact, I’ve heard nothing but good things, but that’s purely anecdotal and I could have missed something.

I have the manual Rivian tonneau and park outside in the PNW rain. I haven’t seen any leaking at all. I had a couple cardboard boxes under the tonneau in my bed that seem to have been affected by the humidity after I left them in there for a couple of weeks, but I’ve never seen any actual water inside. The tonneau seal is really tight on the back where it meets the tailgate and makes it difficult to fully close. I think that’s probably a good thing.

Are you happy with rivian manual tonneau cover? I understand that you cannot stand on it. Does it get hot in the sun? Any other issues?

I have the interrobang. It is definitely not watertight. You will definitely get water coming in around the edges. The weather stripping, I believe, is mostly there to prevent any damage to the truck itself (padding). And there's no weather stripping BETWEEN the slats (they're essentially tongue and groove metal-metal.

A light mist or short drizzle and it'll stay dry inside. Any extended exposure periods or heavy rain and it's going to definitely get wet inside--I have a tarp in my spare tire well in the off chance I really need something kept dry inside of the bed.

If someone offers something completely, expressly watertight in the future (or in the off-chance the powered tonneau retrofit is both reliable and not unrealistically expensive), I may make a switch, but for right now, I enjoy the robustness and not having tons of leaves in the bed :)

I also see zero leaking with my manual Rivian tonneau. IMO it's really well designed.

My interrobang cover let's quite a bit in - heavy rain and everything getting wet, not an issue as we pack things in waterproof bags/totes but I'd rate it as 3/10 (so scientific!) for waterproofing.

Still love it though!

If it were a really big issue, I'd likely put some wide electrical tape over/under the joins when we install it but it's not been that big a deal so far.

here's the tests i ran. first test was as-is. second test i added some tape to where the majority of water intrusion was happening. i haven't done my third test yet to add a more permanent water seal.

Here ya go. Water test.

Overall, with the amount of water he put on that thing, it seems like pretty minimal water intrusion overall. My suitcases and clothes generally go in the frunk, but it's nice to know things will stay fairly dry if they are in the bed with the OEM tonneau.
