Drove 4600 miles and last weekend got this horrific unexpected experience, wherein my R1S got stuck in middle of road with motor fault detected issue and driving disabled, can you image the car fully stopped in middle of road.......reminds of FORD - found on road dead

waited for 90 mins for the tow truck - car is in service station, and the response from Rivian is, they will look at the car on Dec 4th.

"Dying" in the middle of the road is not brand specific to Rivian. I assume they set you up with a loaner or rental? They will take care of it.

They said no loaner is available, hoked me up with enterprise, who called the next day saying we dont have any SUV available, check with your nearby enterprise.

Ok. So they are providing you with a rental, correct?

thats the bare minimum they should be doing for the clients spending $85k, if they cant even do this much, its waste of money.
So you have in mind a brand of truck/ car/ magic unicorn that is guaranteed to never break down if you pay $85k+?

If you know of one I think you should trade in your Rivian for it immediately.

if you spend this much money, you dont expect it to break this soon, I drove audi and tesla for long, n never had to face such issues. I would be more than happy to give away this car, considering a low quality work. its not just outside body that makes the car a good car, hope we all know it.

Man, I remember when my 1972 Buick Electra died on the road. Coasted to the side and checked a few things. Turns out it was the ignition coil. Pulled a spare out of the trunk, popped it in, and was on my way. 10 minutes, tops.

I don't miss how old cars used to crap out at the drop of a hat. But I do miss how easy they were to repair. ?

I hear you on that. Duct tape could get you to the next town to replace a hose!

It sounds like it isn't a good fit for you. I recommend getting another Audi so you can experience a breakdown with that brand like most Audi owners have.

Also glad to hear you will be giving it away for $0. How do I sign up to take it off your hands?

The Count hopes you went straight home, joined the Buick Electra forum and post about that in real time.

Where you could coast into the local auto parts store and fix it in the parking lot with off-the-shelf parts and tools. Did this myself with an idler pulley on the serpentine belt of my '91 GMC Sierra. The 3-piece crescent wrench and plier set I bought still lives in my R1T. I suspect they won't be of much help should I encounter these motor fault and driving disabled errors.

I understand, yes. But it's not just Rivian. I had failures after just a few weeks with both a BMW 3 Series (transmission replaced) and a Chevrolet Suburban (major oil pan leak). Both were similar value vehicles compared to Rivian in their time.
