Btw, it seems like my Kia dealership experience is already beginning. The guy texted me this morning saying that the truck delivered my vehicle to the wrong dealership. They are expecting to get it back on the 21st, and will reschedule with me. :CWL:
Do you have an actual VIN? Can they change that on you? Sounds like exactly what I predict will happen with my wife's Rav4 Prime. "Oops wrong dealer, we'll get you another one" while they add a markup to that one and sell it.

Might be worth going to your dealer today and looking at the VINs that arrived.

I don’t have a VIN. They didn’t give me one, and I didn’t ask. I honestly don’t have that much vested interested in it. I’m in no rush to hear about some ridiculous dealer mark up. If it were my Rivian on the other hand, I’d drive across town to verify in person. ?

Looking at both option I would say the best bet for most people is just pick up the standard pack R1S dual motor for $78,000 - $3,750 tax credit = $74,250 and skip the Kia which is $73,900.

You get a faster vehicle that is more capable and can be charged to 100% daily to extract the full range of 260 miles which is very close to the 270 mile range for Kia.

The only option I would add personally is the ocean coast interior which brings your total to $80,00 while still being eligible for the tax credit. No need to add the large battery pack which should only be charged to 80% daily yielding 281 miles. You won't have any issues with range once you get access to the Tesla network which should go live by the time standard pack dual motors start shipping.

Instead save the large battery pack money and put it towards your next EV which will probably get 400 miles of range and 800v charging.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you lease, you essentially get 7500 knocked off the purchase price regardless of those income and sale price restrictions?

This depends if the manufacturer offers a lease and decides to pass on the savings to you.

Right now Rivian is offering leasing on R1T only and will pass on the savings to you if you decide to lease.

Haha… the best I can do is paraphrase everything I can remember.

I got the GT trim because if we had to choose a color, it’d probably be blue, and they locked that color choice out only to the higher trim levels. Also the GT is most close to the R1S performance-wise (but still far from matching my quad R1S).
That is the beginning of the shenanigans… I’ll bet they are selling it to someone who is willing to pay top dollar. Had that happen at Kia of Irvine when I was purchasing a Telluride

I looked up leasing terms for Kia EV9 and looks like the interest rate is around 7.84%. Doesn’t look too favorable compared to just buying a Rivian dual motor for $78,000 and financing it. This will qualify for $3,750 tax credit if you’re eligible.

You can get around 5% rates to finance right now with credit unions or 4% with Kia if you finance through them.

Sorry OP, off topic, but I'm trying to learn about leases and buying them out.

If you bought this lease out, would it be...
Down+(depreciation*36)+RV$? Or is there another thing I'm missing?

It should be RV$ plus any remaining payments if before end of term. Termination or buy out fees if any should be specified in the contract

Well, I asked them about test driving the vehicle before purchasing, but I haven’t heard back yet. We’ll see what they say.

Curious about their dealer markup as well. Since it doesn’t qualify for the tax rebates, and I preordered the GT trim level, it’s already more expensive than my preorder R1S was!
Speaking of markups I was curious. My local dealer is adding a $5k markup.

Companies should stop doing this IMO. It causes really illogical and poor behavior.
Kia offering 1000kWh is fine it’s the free 30 min charging sessions you get with an Ioniq, GV60, ID4 etc. I agree it kinda sucks for using EA stations and after my last two days in So Cal I see every station can have a line at any given time (and it appears to be heavily skewed towards the Ioniqs, ID4s) even with all/most stations working.

That said it was a real selling feature on my Ioniq 5 so I guess that makes me a hypocrite ?‍♂

You also subtract any “interest charges” that are remaining on the lease.

So it's full lease payment*months + due at signing + RV$? That seems expensive, it's more than just paying gross cap. I'm failing to see the advantage to $7500 lease cash if you just plan to buy it anyway.

In this case, for the Wind AWD, if you plan to just buy out the lease, would it make sense to get the 24 month instead?
