Thought this was an interesting watch. Tesla has some work to do. Wonder if that was a tri or dual motor? Must not have had locker engaged - check out how much it slid across near the top!

I saw this abomination for the first time IRL on the streets last night. It was a matte black one, as far as I could tell, since it was traveling in the opposite direction as me.

It was driven by some 20 something year old who looked like Fry from Futurama, and he was having some trouble keeping it in its lane.

I heard FSD wasn't working yet in them, so I'm not surprised because the Tesla driver probably forgot how to drive without it.

I'm sure there will be Cybertruck owners repeating that in the two variations.

Both the Rivian and Lightning look like they are in their element.

The Dumpster Truck would only look natural at a dump.

"Tesla... blah blah blah... terrible driving..." Yup. That's about what I see daily on my commutes.

Without going into the looks of the CT, if the twitter post is right then probably for same driver, same terrain, same tires, both CT would probably be better than Rivian Quads for some conditions where lockers will help.

Not sure on the CT ground clearance. Anyone knows? is it better than 14.9" we get on Rivian.

We don't know actual clearance that is usable when driving. They just keep touting 17" extract mode. My bet is something closer to Rivian clearance usable.

Agreed on the point on lockers for the Dual; maybe for the Tri, depends how well they deal with traction on the independent motors at the rear.

But, they nerfed the departure angle with some weird boxy thing that hangs down under the truck box, so TBD on how that plays out in the field.

Extract mode is weird and played up. You can go up to 10 MPH in it and it seems to be to get you out of a bind (ie. stuck on a rock or came up to something you want to go slow with extra clearance). I haven't seen what each of the modes are (High, Med, Low, Entry - pict below -- 17.44" max with 12" of travel so ~5" in the entry mode (in/out for older folks, lady in dress, etc, etc).

This new YT video is with the lead Tesla engineer blasting thru it with Jay Leno.
33:20 but link should go there.

Tesla engineers have hinted at wireless charging being looked at so most think the boxy thing would be related to that.

Also this from the summer of 2023:
Title: Tesla officially acquires wireless charging startup
"Tesla has officially acquired Germany-based wireless charging startup, Wiferion, as the automaker is expected to launch its own wireless charging platform."

There were wireless retrofit options several years ago that didn’t need something that bulky. But maybe.

This could be a useful feature if true. Even if they limit your speed to 5-10 mph but if you get out of a bind I think it could be very useful. Hopefully reviews cover this feature in the near future.

Yea, not sure what is going on in the rear with that overhang. Honestly, I have not encountered anything I could not approach/depart on the R1S but granted I have only done moderate to easy obstacles. Departure angle could be a plus on the Rivians.
