Just received the email posted below from Rivian. I've already amended my 2022 taxes and received the $7,500. I'm assuming I ignore this? The part that caught my attention is "Rivian is required to report the sale". Wouldn't that have already been done since I received my refund already?

I just got the same e-mail, and same situation as you, hoping to get clarification from my guide soon.

I dont like how prominent it says to enter your SSN. Pretty sure Rivian has that info. This feels very ??

I was about to click on the "Have Questions? Contact Us." link and then I said, "I bet they're already talking about this on the forum." You guys never disappoint.

Yeah, Rivian should double-check this against the list they (should) have of those who signed the "binding pre-order agreement". I would hate for someone to think they can double-dip...

I was on hold for 10 minutes and realized "What am I doing, I'll just post something".

Exactly my thoughts regarding the binding contract thing.. they already know we signed that and that applies to 2022

Some folks have decided not to claim the binding agreement because they didn't have enough liability left for 2022. Rivian unfortunately has no way of knowing if any particular person has applied for the credit for 2022 under the transition rule, so they are still obligated to report eligible sales under the new rule.

Definitely can't double dip on credits.

Part of the new (Post Aug 2022) EV tax credits require dealership notification to the government of a sale prior to tax credit eligibility for the purchaser.

Rivian definitely does not have my SSN, I was wondering how this reporting was going to happen, now we know.

Seems like a huge rush only 5 days before the deadline and less depending on when we get the next email. Hope it can all be done online as I will be out of town.

I already claimed on my ‘22 taxes (amended). I won’t be filing out the form when Rivian sends the link.

So those of us who either claimed on or amended our 2022 taxes shouldn't have to worry about this, right?

I’ve completed my 2022 tax amendment but yet to file as I’ve been waiting for the online portal to reopen at the end of the month. I assume in this case we still sign? It will not cancel out the binding agreement that protects the credit of up to $7,500?
