I find it takes over an hour to get the battery from 35 degrees to over 55 degrees through charging. Kind of sceptical that turning on heat will substantially warm the battery before departure?
If the battery is below a target temperature, the vehicle will use the windings in the motors as heating coils to heat the cooling fluid that goes through the battery, greatly assisting in bringing the temperature up. You can watch this feature in the very cold by checking your motor temperature prior to leaving. If you have preconditioned, they will often be quite hot, even though the motors have not spun yet.

The DM does this more effectively than the QM, but both will do it.

Proximity off, bluetooth on. If this remains consistent, they found the formula.
Or they have told the vehicle to lie about loss.. of course I hope that is not the case.

I'd like nothing more than to never have to mention vampire drain again!

I used to get 3-4% vampire drain a day. Downloaded the update last night and 12 hours later there has been no drain at all. It seems too good to be true, not even 1 mile drain. Feels like a display bug. I'll have to test again resetting the trip odometer and checking the kwh used.
I reset my trip odometer yesterday at 4PM (about an hour after installing the 2023.50.01 update), I'll check it today at 4PM and report back. Never had PAAK setup, prox. off (not just "off at home") completely as well, fob is kept in a verified Faraday box.

My truck had absolutely zero battery drain last night in an 11 hour period I’ve typically been losing 0.8-1.2 kWh per night. !!!!!!

blended breaking is awesome. I had to charge to 100% today and never got a limited region notice and honestly didn’t even notice a difference.

I’m a huge fan of the wiper updates I love being able to go into storm mode by holding the button up.

The remap accelerator at low speed is so much better. It’s a lot easier to maneuver the car when you’re parking or pulling out of your driveway at low speeds.

Overall, I’m very very impressed with this update

I'm a little concerned about Rivian's language around the battery conditioning while plugged in. Will be curious to see what folks find over time, but if I'm going to leave the truck sit for a few days I'm definitely going to leave it plugged in and would *not* want it to constantly be keeping the battery warm when I know I'm not going to be driving it. If that's how it is going to work then I'd hope to see a toggle switch somewhere because there's no reason we shouldn't be able to leave the truck plugged in without wasting electricity, especially when vampire drain is still so bad.
+1

There are toggle switches where you can turn the schedule on and off if you would like very easily, especially if you’re going to be away from your vehicle and don’t want it to precondition

You're probably right, but the release notes kind of sound like this is separate from the charge schedule.

Additionally, for consistent drive performance, you can now keep your vehicle plugged in to maintain optimal battery pack condition without impacting range.
NOTE
Keeping the vehicle plugged in outside of the Charge Schedule could potentially incur unexpected utility costs, such as on-peak charges. Check with your utility company to understand the pricing model for your charging location.
Maybe they are just referring to what happens after the scheduled time is reached, if you don't unplug.

Clearly something is amiss when customers need to put accessories in Faraday cages.

That little box is really to prevent "Relay Attack" thefts since 3 of our 4 vehicles use fobs not keys. It's also nice to have as it isolates your vehicle from it's fob.

Rivian R1T R1S OTA 2023.50.01 Software is Out! (w/ departure & preconditioning scheduling)! 1704990353798

Anyone notice changes to maneuverability at lower speeds? Is that just referring to the throttle mapping or was it actual changes to the steering?

I'm holding out hope for an on/off switch in a future update (but not holding my breath). Had my T max pack for 3 months and that is by far the most irritating thing about it. Looking forward to this update from the descriptions above.

It's not doing it through charging, it uses the motors to generate heat and it's quite effective. Still on 2023.46 I noticed the motors were orange on the gauge display when I went to leave the other day and I didn't get the snowflake...battery temps were higher than the garage temp, etc. With 2023.50 we can just schedule it now.

WTF? Even with proximity off my truck still continues to wake and sleep hundreds of times a day even on 2023.50. It started with the update they tweaked PaaK for and I have dogshit for vampire drain because of it.
I don't understand this, nor the explanation below. If the motors are not running, where is the heat coming from? Is it from the battery CHARGING? If so, it takes a looong time for the battery temp to come up from charging. At least in the cool/ cold temps since I got my Standard Dual in November. If that's the case, the app should have a setting for CHARGING the battery to a certain level before departure time, not just warming it up? That seems like a complete waste of energy.

After the update, It is much nicer reversing out of my garage, or backing into a parking spot. The truck no longer lurches at the slightest touch of the accelerator. Everything feels just much smoother.
This is exactly what I was hoping for. I have to back in to my rather narrow garage because of where the charger is mounted. The low speed throttle behavior has made it tricky to do this slowly and smoothly.

My truck got the update yesterday, installed last night, looking forward to a smoother arrival at home this afternoon.

Yes. The throttle mapping feels more like a Tesla now. That's a good thing.
