Thanks! As I just added to the original post, I suggest spending a little time listening to the new settings with songs you're very familiar with. You should be able to hear things in those songs that were masked before. Tweak to taste!

Wow! Great write up and research. Thanks for sharing! I have the Meridian system and it really sounds great, but I’m a novice audiophile and it seems like things are a little not perfect sometimes. I’m not negative about the system at all, but having your level of research and guidance would be great for both R1T and R1S systems. Even cracking a window can make a huge difference. Being able to chose the specific frequencies, and able to have defined presets (i.e. windows down) would be great.

Just looked up the feature. It has nothing to do with sound quality. It adjusts volume according to your speed, to compensate for road/wind noise.

Yup that’s my understanding too, I just noticed that OP had it turned off so I was curious.

Turning the Surround completely off disables the speakers along the top of the door frame and seems like a waste. My EQ settings are actually very similar to yours just based on my ear though, but I usually just go for a smooth curve and don't have the big drop at 1k. And I left surround in Low after trying 'Off' for a while and being pretty dissatisfied with it. Maybe I'll try dropping 1k down a little and see if it helps!

It may not be a waste once they enable video streaming. Surround sound isn’t meant for music anyway.

The sharp dip at 1k is probably where most of the improvement comes from -- looking at this EQ curve indicates the speakers are very muddy right in the middle of the range, so cutting a lot of that mud down will bring out a ton of clarity around it.

Someone lend @superfluid an R1T with meridian system right meow so he can do the same analysis for that system!

I ordered a mic and am going to repeat this tuning with my Meridian. Might take me a week to get to it.

Does anyone in Austin TX have an R1T they can loan to superfluid for testing? I would love to see the analysis for the smaller cabin but I'm a little too far away to donate my own truck for testing.

I agree that it feels like a waste. Let us know if you find settings that work well with surround on.
