Glad I live in CA, the cheapest overnight rate you will find in PGE land is $0.345/kWh. To get this, my peak rate has to be almost $0.63/kwh.

Definitely, an EV is not about saving money.

That is nuts. I'm with SDG&E in south Orange County. Peak rate is similar to yours but our off-peak (12 am to 6 am) is $0.11/kWh.

PG&E has to pay for those fires it caused somehow. It's certainly not coming out of company coffers. /s

I’m in LA county and have SCE/CPA and my rate including fees is around $0.26-$0.27, per kWh with TOU-Prime D. Definitely cheaper than the Volvo XC90 we had. I calculated it to be roughly half to charge the R1S.

Funny you put these two together. I concur around $0.07/mi on the Rivian for me. I had a BEV MINI Cooper SE that was closer to $0.035/mi. Traded the MINI and a 4Runner in on the R1T.

Damn expensive CA. $0.36 - $0.59. I have solar and Powerwalls, but it’s enough to just power our home.

Can you honestly compare an R1 to a mini in terms of $ per mile for fuel?

I don't care what it cost to charge my R1T. I know of certain that it will be less than any other full size or mid-sized pickup AND it will go zero to 60 faster than any ICE truck. That's what matters to me.

This is an interesting poll. I had no idea electrons had such a wide range of prices.
I charge predominantly at work so my total paid for the 11 months of ownership is less than $300. 23,294 miles so far. Quite a few 240 mile round trips with a RAN along the way, lvl1 at destination in Monterey and very rare dcfc visits. I've charged at home maybe once a month @ $0.126/kWh and usually just a top-off for a trip.
No one has ever asked me how much it costs to charge although my EV hating girl loves to point out that it costs "just as much as filling her excursion" when dcfcing. Yeah, right. How far and how long does it take. Those are the usual questions. More than the 45 miles I drive every day and about 275 when venturing out. Less time to charge than a work shift and about as long as it takes to smash through half a rack of ribs and garlic fries along the way to wherever.

Poll needs a "$0.00" option as some of us have enough solar panels that it covers our household consumption and our EV fleet consumption as well.

Do me a favor and run the numbers using a more realistic comparison like the below slowpoke 710 HP Dodge Durango Hellcat for $95,995 and $0 tax credit.

I guess you should have purchased an Ioniq.

Tundra 30,000km =5000Litres @$1.6/L =$8000
R1S 30000km - 10000kw @ .14 (home) = $1400
(More like $1000-1200 due to a bunch if free charging)

Energy Savings = $6600+ in 9 months, & a much better driving experience.

Let's be honest, we aren't buying $70K-100K vehicles to save money. My electricity bill in CA increased more than I expected to the point I'm going to fast track installing solar now. At least I get free charging at work so now I'm just taking it into my work more.
