Someone over on Reddit said R2T was officially squashed during the recent earnings call. I hadn't seen that mentioned here but maybe I missed it?

They said R2 was a single model with different trim levels.

My #1 hope is that the rear seats are easily removable like the seats were in my Honda Element. We are empty nesters who do not need 2 rows of seats most of the time. I would rather have room inside for other stuff (dogs, folding e-bikes, camping gear, etc.). Make the R2S a true utility vehicle.

the more i think about the R2 and the need for Rivian to knock it out of the park the more concerned i am. Rivian not only needs to knock it out of the park by revealing a compelling vehicle but it also needs to be affordable and by affordable it needs to have a starting price between $45k-$49k. to hit that price point for a relatively new manufacturer that still hasn't even built the plant yet is going to be challenging. which makes me think this is not going to be an offroad capable vehicle - at least not close to the R1.

it'll probably be similar a Subaru Outback Wilderness. somewhere between 8-9 inches of ground clearance, AT-light tires, an offroad drive mode, decent approach/departure angles, and some reinforced composite panels but not a full alloy underbody shield. no air compressor or air suspension obviously. and its got to drop or make optional all the extras of the R1 - flashlight, camp speaker, less power outlets. i think it'll still have the glass roof because its actually easier and cheaper to manufacture it than without it.

Yeah I don’t see what’s wrong with targeting a Outback/Forester with the R2. You get some decent ground clearance, AWD and 2 rows in a boxy body and I think it’ll do well.
