Miles on odometer at delivery / pickup? Mileage thread

Exactly 100 miles on mine from El Segundo SC. No panel gaps and no issues after 1 week.

Mine I picked up last week had 25miles on her and the build quality was flawless.

And remind yourself, you signed up to buy a car from a car company that's only been in mass production for 2 years. What is acceptable is different and subjective. If you feel wronged, work it out with Rivian Service/Support. You did, after all, also pay for a warranty.

I can't say this enough.... If there are tons of panel gaps or other quality issues on the outside and your not comfortable with waiting for Rivian to fix... You should reject it.

With that said generally my new vehicles have all been under 30 miles with the exception of my wife's 2001 Pontiac Sunfire which was a dealer trade and driven to the selling dealer. It had 115 miles when we signed.

They move them on/off transport, test them at factory, and the SC should be also testing them before they are presented for delivery. During that time the SC may have some kinks to work out and may add a few extra miles. I agree that less than 100 miles is fine.

Mine had around 23 miles as I recall. Some people look at higher intial mileage - say over 5 or 10 miles, whatever - as cause for alarm. IMO, it's the opposite. If it does have more pre-delivery miles, it went through longer or additional testing. Maybe something failed, i.e. a drive unit or a sensor, and it had to be replaced and then run through the test protocol again. I see that as a good thing, not a bad thing.

I definitely said no less than three times I don’t think I should accept this, each time the reply was well take it for seven days, submit a ticket to get on the schedule. They had the service manager come out to say yeah we can adjust the panels. Service ticket for April, and I saw shoe polish residue on the windshield later saying panels needed to be adjusted. There also was a lot of dirt inside the tailgate hinge area from transport. At that point I was questioning the seals and asked if they could show me that same area under other R1Ss next to mine. They went to find the keys, and came back saying they can’t find them. My guide told me a return would mean a new order and wait. I called and emailed service that I feel I was pressured into buying a known subpar car (note on the windshield) and I would like to return it, and I should not be punished by going to the back of the line. They’ve since called and are getting me in today for the panel fixes. Left rear window also makes a weird motor noise. We’ll see, but yesterday I needed to do a quick errand and I was more excited to drive my old car.

How many miles did your new R1s or R1T have at pick-up/delivery? The purchase agreement i received for my R1S indicates there are 100 miles on it already which seems excessive. I was expecting a few miles prior to shipment and a few miles at the service center and so a total of around 20 miles to 40 miles.

100 is default on many documents. You’ll have a lot less. I had 100 on my paperwork, and I think the vehicle had 8.

Same. Docs all say 100 but actual miles for me were 12.

At time of me accepting delivery, it had 50 miles, including the 30 miles the employee drove my new car from the SC to my house. He said they would just drive the new car to the customer if it’s within 100 miles and the customer has a trade in.

My paperwork said 100 & believe my actual mileage at pickup was around ~21.

Mine was 22. They list 100 on everybody's agreement. It gives leeway for pre-delivery/delivery miles.
