With the lease specials going on i am on the fence. Went to my local rivian space today and am a little concerned about the space in the 2nd and 3rd row. I am coming from a VW Atlas and its night and day to legroom in comparison even tho the Rivian is bigger. Im 6’2” and definely have less space driving than in my atlas. Anyone an atlas owner before getting their R1S?

Even if I had to mutilate myself and shorten my own legs by 10 inches to fit inside I would rather drive the R1S vs an Atlas.

Just one EV loving man’s opinion :)

Had an Atlas lemon, R1S feels bigger.
Second row is a bit clunky though.
Atlas is 41.7/37.6/33.7 inches legroom front to back, R1S is 41.4/36.7/32.8
Interior volume is 10% more than Atlas.

My wife once asked me... wouldn't it be too hot to sit in the back with the glass roof. My reply was we are sitting in the front seats. That rule applies to all situations.

6-3" R1S driver here. The seat is super adjustable, so take your time with it. I feel there is tons of room in the first and second rows. If the second row is moved up a little bit, there's even plenty of room in the third row for me. I'm usually the driver, though.

Who is sitting in back? If it’s you, maybe the Atlas. If it’s not you, the Rivian.

Also, if you have to look at it, or be seen in it, the Rivian.
I’m not sure what’s worse… driving an Atlas or being chauffeured in one?

Joking aside, what they? said.

I'm 6'2 and about 285 lbs (not a small human) and the Rivian is more than roomy enough in the first row and second row (though I suppose if you tried hard you could make it uncomfortable in the second row) Third row seating is pretty much useless for larger people unless the vehicle was specifically designed for it (minivan etc.) and the Rivian R1S is no exception. You could do it in a pinch but definitely not designed for larger humans over a long drive.

I have just become accustomed too the space in the drivers seat the atlas has. I was disappointed today when i couldnt get the steering wheel any higher. All that said i might pull the trigger tomorrow

Sometimes my steering wheel acts weird until I do a calibration which lets it return back to the full range of motion.

You can reset the calibration in the settings menu.

Setup another test drive and perform the reset before you drive it.

I m 6'2", and I dont even have the seat all the way back... So not sure..

I know I would not own a VW, An Atlas, or for that matter, anything German.

An Atlas? I would rather walk ?

Please.... For the love of all things holy.... Get off that fence and into the R1S! I have a feeling the EV market will turn after the election when gas prices skyrocket again.

Rivian has one hell of a warranty as well. 8 years 150,000 miles on battery and electric drive components. 175,000 of you get quad motor.

Atlas’s are nice. You will have zero regrets about the R1S. Best car I’ve ever owned and first car I’ve owned that I still turn around and look at it walking away.
