I will be waiting for the refresh that adds 2 the two extra battery modules or additional kwh & likely a glove box as well.
l will be reserving the R3X as well when the time comes.

I can still outrun 99% of vehicles I encounter from a stop light. That’s really all that matters in life. The rest is just fluff.

EDIT: Its actually been 100%, but I need to throw that 1% in there because I know it’ll happen one day.

The new Dual Motor LFP $69,900 trim appears to be the bargain of the bunch. A lot of improvements under the skin. It appears that the color options are a carry over from 2024. This was a miss by Rivian IMO.

I think the refresh was well done. Rivian must have started on the project years ago with over 600 changes, design, engineering, gearing up vendors, certifications, etc.
For only $32.5k, you can have storm blue as your color. A bargain!

I hear that. Marketing 101 steers buyers to the pricier trim level for the new paint color.

The new 2025 R1‘s are pricey minus the entry level $69,900 Dual Motor LFP trim. I think the DM LFP qualifies for the $3250 tax credit.

Between our LE R1S and the new rolling refrigerator I’m going to sit this one out. My wife has taken over the R1S (SmurfMobile) and can barely use Bluetooth. She never once initiated adaptive cruise control on any of our last 5-6 cars that had it. Virtually every upgraded feature would be wasted on her.

I’m sticking with the Cybertruck (Brutus) for the time being. Don’t love the attention, but that is already waning big time here in SoCal. The driving dynamics of steer by wire and rear wheel steering are simply next level IMO. Just had PowerShare installed this past week, so assuming they actually do the software updates I’ll be happy with it being the equivalent of about 10 battery walls and hope they eventually roll out FSD as well.

When the Tesla Roadster first came out I had talked a surgeon buddy of mine into buying one. About midnight one day he calls me up and says to "meet him in so-and-so parking lot in an hour", and hangs up. My wife just rolled her eyes as I left the house. It was the Roadster delivery, at 2 in the morning. Away we went for a spirited test drive. Coming back finally to the parking lot we were stopped at a traffic light and he hit it one more time as the Christmas Tree turned green. What a ride! And to finish it all off, we had a flashing blue light behind us about ten seconds after we parked, to make sure we we ok, of course. As the cop walked up to us, freshly coffee stained shirt and all, he said "what the f**k are you driving!". He gave him a ticket for not having a tag, and told him "always look behind you before you do that thing you did again".. Fun :)

Right now sitting on my Gen1 R1S Quad. Love this thing and don't need a new vehicle. I really like the Gen2 and think they did an amazing job, and I would go with a Tri-Motor for the Gen2 since the Quad is way too expensive. I have a deposit on a R2 as well.

Love my R1S and the only update that is interesting in Gen 2 is the ride - but it doesn’t sound like it’s that much smoother. The Gen 1 R1T has a far, far better ride than the Gen 1 S, but I expect that will continue to be the case. All other upgrades are nearly, but not needed by me.

Like others, I’ve got a deposit for an R2. Can’t wait for it.

I think the ride difference will be quite noticeable in Gen 2 on the R1S. R2 is cute but I can't see myself going from the R1S to R2. I have a deposit on it as well but unlikely to ever buy it. I'll probably wait 3 years and get the latest R1S equivalent if there is one unless Rivian has some insane trade-in deal but I'm not holding my breath...

I don’t see dramatic improvements over the current R1T and R1S. Give us 800v, steer by wire, rear wheel steering, , ditch Alexa, license FSD, then I will ditch my preordered CT.

I double that. I am also waiting on the non-FS Cybertruck’s to start production.

If the 600 HP AWD CT stays at $79,990 and qualifies for the $7500 tax credit I am leaning towards my Cybertruck reservation at $72.5k. Simply a lot more bang for the buck. I like my current R1T but I am not in love with it.
