I still have my pre-price hike voucher. Been waiting for the powered tonneau to become available again on a R1T Canyon Red Ocean Coast Quad Motor Large Pack with AT wheels. That config never showed up in the shop, so I've been waiting for them to re-open custom orders again. Now I'm trying to decide if I go for the discount and get a Gen2 Performance Dual Max R1S, hope they start making some gen2 R1Ts, or skip the discount and get the Gen2 Quad Max that we had originally pre-ordered 2 years ago, and they didn't offer, but now that they are finally offering, I won't be able to get with my voucher.

Hand raised.

All about range (with some speed). Thus, I’m waiting for some Gen2 performance dual with max pack with Range wheels to show up in the shop. In one of 4 colors. Hopefully some of the other options. Checking the shop incessantly.

Level of anxiety: MY HAIR IS ON FIRE!?

I'd take the Gen 1 with pre-order voucher, but if give up on the max pack. It's not worth it. How much range do you actually need?

Hoping they put gen 2 PDMs in the shop soon!

I don't think you'll find one of these in the shop eligible for the pre-order voucher. I think they are trickling in some standard packs just to start getting those built. Large and max pack, which are the only ones you can get the performance on will only be available if you configure one. But the pre-order voucher isn't valid on configured vehicles.

You either need to take a gen1 or standard pack gen2 .. Which in my honest opinion might be enough. The pre-order voucher basically eliminates the depreciation, so you probably wouldn't lose much money in the short term.

Then the rule change effectively makes the voucher worthless. If that’s the case, I should have made a lot of noise in 2023 to get a vehicle then instead of patiently waiting for Rivian to arrive with my confirmed configuration on which I had made my deposit non-refundable. ?

Only $100 of the $1000 is non-refundable if i remember. I just used my pre-order voucher on a 2024 PDM Standard+ , got the 20% (~$18K) discount and was able to amend my 2022 tax credit due to the non-binding contract i had. Definitely not worthless. I got a ~$92K car for effectively $62K

I confirmed in Oct (expecting delivery in Nov/Dec) and that made the full $1,000 nonrefundable. (Prior to that I had made the $100 nonrefundable.)

I only put things on hold in mid-Feb after 3.5 months of crickets.

Lots of my frustration would have been avoided with some good communication from Rivian. Instead, I think they were unintentionally misleading. I guess communication is not their strong point. They are building good vehicles though.

My wife and I were finally at a place to purchase and we were set to pickup a 2024 R1S on Saturday 06/08, but then with the news of the new models we canceled and they were able to apply all of our financing and everything towards the new order.

There were a bunch of 2025 DMs and PDMs in the shop the day of and the day after the announcement, and we managed to snag a Dual Motor in White with 22" sport wheels and ocean coast with the dynamic roof. All said and done after the tax credit (we signed the Binding Purchase Agreement) should be under 80k. Really wish the R1S we chose had premium audio as well, but we didn't want to chance it, and we can always do a third party upgrade to the audio later on.

Honestly props to Rivian for allowing any of us pre-order holders to still get these pricing benefits on the newer models and this late in the game.

I imagine if you keep refreshing the page you will see more DMs and PDMs enter the shop over the next few months. Have until September 30th to take delivery which is plenty of time.

This is incorrect. There were Gen2 Dual Maxes and Perf Dual Maxes in the shop last week. Hoping Tris make it to the shop in August/early Sept.

Interesting thread as I am finally trying to decide. My order dates back to June of 2021 and after so many failed promises and an expired lease on another car, I (regrettably) purchased a BMW ix Xdrive 50. I only say regrettably because it was during mid-COVID and I paid full MSRP and the car is $15K under water. It’s a great car, but, has it’s share of issues as well.

I was told this week by Rivian customer service that I could switch to the 2025 Gen 2, and apply the 20% discount and, as I paid the deposit and signed the contract before the law changed, also apply $7,500 to cap cost reduction. But, I’ll have to take one of the ones ‘built’ or ‘being built’ as opposed to the custom order I had made back in 2021.

However, in my R1S/R1T shop, I see no 2025s.

My biggest struggle right now, in addition to the upside down nature of the BMW, is the lack of service centers in North Carolina. I have to trek up to Richmond, VA (3 hours away) to pick up the car at the get go, although they will happily deliver to me for $1,000. What I know with my BMW is that if goes into a freak out software mode—and can—the dealer takes it and I drive out with a demo. I don’t have the time or luxury to trek a car up 3 hours away for anything major to be repaired. Mind you, every issue I have had with my BMW has been software related and frequently only because the software download is too large to be downloaded OTA.

Welcome thoughts generally and, in particular, what markets have folks seen 2025s appear in the R1S and R1T shop.

I have only seen Gen 2 Dual standard show up on the store and that tracker site. I doubt they will roll many if any large, max or tri motor to the store earlier than Oct 1st

I think PDM and PDM Max will show up in the store... or they will have to shut down production again by Sept. 30. No way they can only fill custom orders without having issues to find space to park these trucks/SUV. They expect 57,000 units produced in 2024 and keep in mind that they were shut during all April = 5,200 units/month on average = 26,000 units post-shut down by Sept 30. They delivered 13,500 units in Q1 including store sales...

Yeah, I don't know what @narmstrong79 is thinking. Rivian can't afford to not build everything they can, and that includes max pack. The market was nearing saturation for a 6 figure SUV so every sale counts. And Rivian can't just say to Samsung, "hold onto this extra batteries until we need them." That's not how these supplier contracts work.
