I have a PDM with sport mode but I've tried this trick for staying in standard height and still getting full-time 4 wheel regen on long downhills. The only problem is that cruise control doesn't work. Turning on ACC also turns stability back on.

Is the experience much different between sport mode and normal mode with reduced stability?

I haven't pushed either yet, just 2 weeks with the vehicle. Definitely more and quicker power in sport, where reduced stability is more noticeable in the handling than in AP/reduced. I'll keep playing with it, should get a good mix of highway and dirt, both with hills, this weekend.

My DM felt a lot less bumpy in the low ride height with reduced stability but sounds like not a great hack because the settings won’t “stick”

Pretty late on this comment but I'm pretty sure reduced stability will definitely impact range. That's based on my observation that snow mode (R1T DM) also switches to all 4 wheels all the time and has reduced mileage.

Yes, reduced stability mode will decrease range. Snow mode will decrease range even more. I don't use either mode on a road trip. Around town, it doesn't matter.
