Nationwide sent me a letter saying they were dropping insurance coverage for all our vehicles at the end of June 2024. They sited reason that our chip repairs and one small (but costly) accident was outside of their policy. No driving record - not even a speeding ticket. Nationwide may be dropping insurance coverage of Rivians.

When you say chip repairs, do you mean rock chips on the paint?

If so, I’m not surprised. Given the current state of the insurance industry, at least here in California, I wasn’t willing to use my homeowners insurance for a water leak that caused a few thousand dollars in damage. Sadly I’d rather not be dropped in the current state of affairs, so I’m saving any insurance claims for the unlikely meaningful “event “.

Nationwide wouldn’t even quote me a policy because they wanted less exposure to Colorado.

The state of the insurance industry isn’t good now, and Natiowide seems to be well below average for even wanting to be in the insurance business.

I’d shop elsewhere, even for those that have good coverage with them. They’re clearly a company that is looking for any excuse to dump clients.

I have five comprehensive claims that are all windshield glass chip repairs over the past four years - I have tried to switch insurance twice in the past two years and I am denied since I have “too many comprehensive claims “.

I’m inclined the believe what OP is dealing with.

Progressive is INSANELY low for me, I tell everyone to try them first. They seem to love EVs. This is a six month policy. Our Smart is also on the policy and adds around $210, which is funny, since that car could be replaced completely for $12k.

They dropped me beginning of last month - only thing was a glass claim. My Rivian agent told me that Nationwide is on a mission to eliminate 75% of their auto policies. CinFin, Rivian's other underwriter won't write new policies in my area unless you bundle everything. SO after some panic and looking at quotes, I talked to my agent again and he told me to try Progressive. Rivian is very close to making them an insurance partner for them and he said he would pull me back into the Rivian insurance side once that was complete.

Nationwide sucks, they tried to drop my homeowners policy for them to be forced into offering it for another year. They raised my rates 70% while I haven't had a single claim in 14 years.

Needless to say they are no longer my insurance.

Is this per month or every 6? I had to switch from Prog as they kept upping me...no claims.

Oops, updated my post. Six months.
That's insanely cheap. Started out with them, same everything as you...$500 in 2022. They raised $250 every renewal. Hope they are better for you.

It is, and all I can figure is that something about my profile fits their model. They have nearly always been the best option for my motorcycles, RVs, and autos. They used to be unwilling to cover the house because of our dog breeds, then suddenly, made an offer that took us from $2200/year with American Family to $1400 with higher coverage. One of my motorcycles is...$60/year. LOL.
