I saw the post about tricking the truck to think a trailer ISN'T Connected but do we have a way to do the opposite?

My adas / driver+ hasn't worked for over a month and I just want my damn cruise control back. In trailer mode it uses regular cruise control which honestly is good enough for me until this figure this out.

So I'd like to slam a device into the hitch plug to trick it. I haven't tried just plugging in my 4 pin adapter yet, maybe that's all I need to do?

Would this work maybe?

I'm the person who made the other post. I've tested and figured out what it takes for the car to detect a trailer, and I even posted it in that thread. Just a connector and a light. Anything that puts even the tiniest load on either turn signal or the brake would trigger the trailer mode.

Thanks. So in theory a small resistor would even work.

Most definitely, if you use your adapter. I have a similar one wired into a 7 pin for my bike rack and it always forces trailer mode.
Maybe a dumb question but why force trailer mode when there’s no trailer attached when u use a bike rack? There’s a setting to disable sensors when you have an accessory attached to the hitch, like a bike rack.

I'll let OP answer why to force it, but I plug in my brake/turn signal light on the bike rack so folks can see if I'm braking, or turning. RTT blocks the upper center light, bikes block the side lights.

Ah gotcha ok that makes sense.

The 7-to-4 pin adapter linked below ($10.58) will make the truck think there is a trailer connected (this is the adapter I use & it has a small "night light" which draws an extremely low amount of power, making the truck think something is connected).

It's also been a pretty decent adapter so kills 2 birds with one stone based on OP's use case.

Here's a second option ($9.97) that replaces the "night light" feature with 3 indicator lights (helpful for testing, like dgennetten mentioned above) if you prefer that style instead.

Funny I tried the same adapter last night but my light is burnt out so it didn't do the job. Time for a new one.

Grabbed a resistor wired it into my adapter on the tailight plug. No go.

Maybe needs 2 signals? Anyway I'll go grab one of those lighted adapters tomorrow after work as I drove 2 hours today again without cruise and it's getting frustrating. At this point I'm going to bypass it until they can get me into service.

Also I don't want to drive 3 hours to service center without it! It's pretty dumb they don't have a simple toggle for this, the original software had a manual towing mode that toggled this.

So as others have asked... Why are you trying to force tow mode? For regular cruise control?

That's what he said in the original post. It would be nice if there was an option to select regular cruise control. This time of year, when I drive north to go to work, the just rising sun causes "glare" that sometimes disables adaptive cruise. I-5 between Salem and Wilsonville is very straight and runs pretty much north/south. Regular cruise would be much better than NO cruise.

Then I am one as well. I miss things when I read in a hurry ,or while the television is on, or even if my wife comes into the room asking if it's OK for her to talk.
