I guess I'm just wondering because I don't necessarily trust one bank rep. Did you try a different card with a different bank and ask them the same question.
Also yes. Two different cards at two different banks

I read the thread and I didn't see if you had tried to plug in directly to a Tesla magic dock supercharger. That's the one that comes with an adapter for CCS cars. It very likely uses your default payment system, it's plug and charge, you plug the charger in to your rivian and rivian talks to Tesla, says go ahead. I know who this is. I would guess that that won't work if the payment system is not setup on your default account. It's only going to charge you the per kilowatt hour charge, so if you do it for a couple minutes if it works itl only charge you for a few kwh, it's only going to cost a few bucks. My guess is it's not going to start because probably something's messed up on the configuration of your payment. We're all just guessing trying to help here.

If you do that and it doesn't work, that should clarify the problem to someone at rivian. Good luck and let us know

Yeah its worth trying honestly. I have a NACS to CCS adapter on order and will actually try that as soon as it arrives.

My hypotheses were:
(1) Chargers have trouble identifying your car's VIN (or other unique identifier); or
(2) Rivian doesn't link your VIN to your Rivian account correctly; or
(3) Rivian doesn't have a good credit/debit card attached to your Rivian account.

You seem to have ruled out #3.

Tesla with Magic Dock should check whether Tesla can identify your VIN, and whether the VIN is correctly linked to your Rivian account and card. Be sure to use Plug and Charge, though, not the Tesla app.

If Tesla Superchargers can identify your car as yours, but RAN can't, you have a very unusual problem -- but you'll know it's nothing you did, and you'll know the fix is entirely in the Rivian ecosystem.

Very best wishes, @joesimonsen!

Evgo has plug and charge but that doesn't really help because of how it associates to your account on the first session. I'd say your car isn't associated to your rivian account properly. You might not even be driving your car lol.

On the screen identifying the drivers’ names and the keys associated with them, is the spelling of your name the same as it is on:
1. Your physical credit card and
2. The name on the payment method in your account?
Spelling doesn't matter, I have 2 completely different names for my driver profile and my credit card on file (late 80s middle namer).

(1) Chargers have trouble identifying your car's VIN (or other unique identifier); or
(2) Rivian doesn't link your VIN to your Rivian account correctly;
This is my guess as well. Have you verified the physical VIN and digital VIN in the vehicle's About section match the VIN in the app/with Rivian? We've seen VIN mismatches before.

Thats a good theory too. I compared the VIN on my car itself on the windshield to the one in my rivian app and they do match. I just wonder if there is something elsewhere that doesnt now.

Mildly annoying to do, but an idea...create an entire new Rivian account and have them transfer the car.

This happened to me last year. It was a credit card error. After I fixed it it’s been flawless since.

How did you fix it then? I've tried 4 different cards from 2 different banks and the problem continues

Interesting idea. I'll suggest that if/when their support team calls me back which they said they would today. thanks!

I would do it as if it were a car purchase. Full factory reset of the car, bind to the new account as a new blank car. New email, use a card you've never used, etc etc. Then you KNOW it has to be the car, not the account.

Maybe try calling your credit card issuer and see if they are rejecting the charges. Sometimes they have some algorithm that blacklists certain charges.
