If anyone is looking for a $30 solution to prevent scratches to their arm rest, check out this:
Rivian R1T R1S Arm Rest Protector Pad IMG_2057

Definitely the best I’ve seen as far as fitment goes. Easy to install, and happy with the looks. Matches well enough. After my dog gouged a small chunk with their claw, I needed to get something.

I was looking for one. These lids are very expensive to replace.

Thanks for sharing.

I’ll have to look for one in Ocean Coast.

...why???

Armrests should last the same as the rest of the interior.
Other than the butt-support parts of the seats, no other interior component is subject to being rubbed and rested-upon nearly continuously. Within seconds of taking posession of my truck, I'd sweated a puddle onto the armrest (a hot and humid day in Virginia!). The rest of the interior doesn't get used that way. Also, the proximity of the cupholders to the armrests means that spills onto the armests are almost inevitable.

I mentioned it in my original post that my dog gouged it. My dog regularly rides with me in the vehicle and has a habit of putting their paws on the arm rest.

Definitely a spendy repair for just a torn surface. I think I saw a used one on eBay for $350. Good luck trying to find a seller that accommodates the non-black interiors.

Thanks. For now all I have is ceramic coat on it to protect it from stains and no pets or young kids under 5.

I sent a message to the vendor asking them if they have plans to make one in Ocean Coast.

Spills and wetness on a vinyl...oh sorry vegan leather, can be wiped up and cleaned easily.

That said, if one views it as an insurance against what if, then that's enough reason for that particular person. What anyone else thinks about it is irrelevant.

Sorry missed that part. I don't have a dog and my ankle biters are grown adults so not more kids issues.

When you say gouged, did the surface cut through or just scratched it deep enough that it left a deep welt? Just wondering how durable the vinyl surface is.

My guess about durability: not very. It’s one of the most disappointing things about this vehicle. The steering wheel cover, both armrests, and possibly the dash, all seem to be cheap-ass thin vinyl- like 1980’s Ford Pinto quality. It scares the shit out of me. I know it’s just a matter of time before one of them gets nicked or gouged and it will look like shit. Ever use one of those vinyl repair kits? Still looks like shit. I’m coming from a Lexus GX - far better materials.

Has a cool 70s Naugahyde look.

Dogs aside, I’m finding the interior to be pretty durable. I put a ceramic coating on it and am pretty comfortable with longevity. But…today will be our first dog ride.
