Was just coming here to post this - thank you for the writeup and including it here!I created a thread on taking the dash apart and the related rattle.

I have an r1s max pack dual motor and it makes a "squishy" sound over bumps between mainly under 25mph and seems to be getting worse. Service center (they are great) said this is an engineering item....does anyone else have this issue? I bought this vehicle based on being a "tough adventure " vehicle as I work in the construction trades. THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS as I am basically on washerboard roads frequently.
I believe the sound is coming from the upper control arms. It's normal and on ICE would be drowned out by the engine. Rivian needs more sound deadening as you hear Everything in an EV.I have an r1s max pack dual motor and it makes a "squishy" sound over bumps between mainly under 25mph and seems to be getting worse. Tesla tires usually all have the foam inside. Yes model S is a quieter vehicle too. Thanks for reply, but do not that even if this were an ice vehicle the sound would be drowned out....actually very sure it would not. I also own a model s and realize thar is not an suv, but drive it on same roads and not a sound like this and Rivian is supposed to be an adventure vehicle.
Where did they install the dynamat?Tesla tires usually all have the foam inside. Yes model S is a quieter vehicle too.
Rivian needs to improve the sound isolation for sure. The sounds your mentioning are present on every R1T and R1S I have driven...and I have driven quite a few different vehicles (more than 10).
Some owners have installed dynamat in the frontal areas.
It's a little pricey but here is Dynamat and then a lower cost option. I may experiment with this when I'm able to see if it makes any difference.

Frunk and wheel well areas. All the noise is coming from suspension, tires, and Axles.Where did they install the dynamat?
Thank you for this. This was indeed the same issue on my R1T. Used some foam weather insulation on the bottom of the plastic cowl so the refrigerant line no longer rubs and vibrates against this piece. Took it out on a drive and while the AC compressor is still loud, my dash no longer buzzes like before.I believe I have located the source of much of the AC compressor vibration. The noise unfortunately is normal but the vibration and in some cases rattling is not.
I believe a lot of the vibration and rattling is due to an AC compressor. Refrigerant hose resting up against the cowling. See this rather terrible picture I took while investigating. The rubber on the refrigerant hose has been damaged. After a year of the rubbing. I installed a piece of foam weather stripping and on a recent road trip to Boston. Most of the vibration and all of the rattling noise is gone. The normal buzzing noise the compressor makes is still there of course.
You can easily check this by taking off the plastic cowl cover and see if you can fit your finger between the refrigerant hose and the underside. If it's been rubbing, you will likely feel rough spots on the rubber insulation in the hose as well.
Mine goes in on July 3rd and I'm going to see what they're planning to do to address it. This is only present on our R1T build date 3/2023. Neither of our R1S had this level of vibration/rattling noise. Strangely it only seemed to happen above 85F ambient.
